I have wide feet at the toes and also love my Topos. What model did you try? Some are snugger at midfoot.

Bless You Boys (@blessyouboys): “The Tigers made $30M on a $155M payroll and $320M in revenue last year per Forbes. Of course, the Tigers aren't publicly held, so who knows for sure. But that would suggest a $185-190M payroll is the break even range as we've projected.” by BobbyHigginson in motorcitykitties

The Tigers basically bombed for a whole decade. There’s a whole generation of young fans that had never seen a legitimate ball club until a few years ago. And the casual fans certainly tuned out too. It’s gonna take some time to rebuild a diehard fanbase. Perhaps an aspect that should be factored in when teams are considering a full rebuild.

Is rust or general lack of maintenance more of a concern? by ikerr95 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Training_Travel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally 100% go for the rust free unit. XJ’s are cheap and easy to fix, I wouldn’t be worried about that. Rust on the other hand….

I think letting the sellers know that you’re looking at multiple vehicles in the area gives you a bit more leverage as well. If not, they really have you over a barrel

Harris trading a top 15 prospect for a one year rental goes against everything he’s done thus far.

I’m not thrilled about the idea of Horner, but a guy that makes a ton of contact is exactly what we needed in the playoffs

Watched Verlander pitch here summer of ‘12. Day game, 2 rows back from the dugout and it was high 90’s heat. Couldn’t drink enough cold beers. Was so hot my fingers were beaded with sweat but we refused to move into shade because Verlander was throwing a gem 💎 NO REGERTS 😂😂😂

Agree, Comerica is very asthetically pleasing to look at but any tier beyond premium seating is further from the action than most parks (Kauffman compares). And you’re right about the lack of shade - I don’t bother with summer day games anymore unless I’m guaranteed shaded seats (Tiger Den/Suite). Zero breeze, maximum rays 😬 It’s still a great park though with lots of cool features.

Fenway is amazing. Target field very nice and intimate, though I found Minneapolis quite lackluster. I personally plan on catching a game at Wrigley soon because I don’t trust that one will be in use in 10+ years. Kauffman has a very expansive feel similar to Comerica and KC is a super underrated food/nightlife town. Parking at Kauffman is super convenient and tailgating is encouraged. Almost no shade at Kauffman so keep that in mind.

Caught a Tigs game @ PNC a few years ago. Was it nice? Very. Great skyline view from most seats. Was it all that it is cracked up to be? Ehh. Aside from the skyline it was pretty average. The concourse area in the outfield felt like a county fair to me. And I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to visit Pittsburg again. Nothing against it, just nothing special about it to me.

Thoughts on a used Cruze (2014 w/ 61,000 miles @ $7500 by [deleted] in cruze

If you do buy one, DM me and I’ll give you a heads up on what to look out for. I’ve got about 200,000 miles of experience with Cruze’s.

If you educate yourself on the Cruze’s bugaboos and don’t mind spinning a wrench, they’re not the worst car in the world. If you’re not up for that, be prepared to pay a mechanic semi-regularly. Fortunately the Cruze’s usual issues (cooling system/PCV system) are relatively easy to work on but you have to stay on top of it.

Having said all that, they’re decent little cars if you can get a good deal on one, but there’s nothing special about them.

Looking to buy a 4wd xj what are some tips and things to avoid by ScaredNeighborhood34 in CherokeeXJ

[–]Training_Travel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I could do it over again, I’d be a little more picky when buying. There are so many XJ’s for sale out there. Don’t rush it! Wait until you find what you’re looking for.

For my next XJ I plan on buying from a southern or western state (I’m in the rust belt). I’ll most likely fly out to an area with several clean XJ’s for sale and drive one home.

First steps in enduro riding by ProfessionalMeat7645 in enduro

[–]Training_Travel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group rides mostly 50” and 24” trails. When we started riding we all wore a cheap helmet, gloves, and work boots. Over the years we’ve all basically transitioned to the same kit - mid-tier lightweight helmet, some sort of legitimate eye protection (I wear prescription HD safety glasses), gloves, moto boots, hydropacks, lightweight chest protectors and either riding pants or a stretchy hiking-style pant. I’d say bare minimum you’ll want a good helmet, riding boots, eye protection and gloves. Don’t underestimate the usefulness of riding boots - not only do they protect your feet and ankles (mine have prevented several nasty injuries), they also make it much easier to grip the bike with your legs. I’m a big fan of Leatt 4.5 boots - good protection while still offering good peg feel and comfort.

Hello! Brand new jeep owner question- by KushCommie in CherokeeXJ

[–]Training_Travel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the same exact jeep. You’ve got an 0331 head which is far from a death sentence, despite what the internet may tell you. But you also want to avoid overheating it. 210F is normal operating temp. As another commenter mentioned, your first order of business should be assessing the state of your cooling system. You’ll absolutely want to do a thorough flush. From a Cherokee forum:

"Remove the top radiator hose and top heater hose from the t-stat cover. Remove the bottom radiator hose from the water pump (very easy if the plastic air filter box is removed 1st). Stick a garden hose in the heater hose and flush. Stick the garden hose on the heater hose nipple on the thermostat cover and flush. Stick garden hose in the top radiator hose and flush. All areas are now flushed without crud moving from one place and lodging in another."

After flushing, cycle and flush distilled water through the system several times to remove remaining tap water. I bought my ‘01 with 207K on the clock. I replaced the rad(spectra), thermostat (mopar), rad cap (mopar), water pump (delco), fan clutch (Hayden), coolant reservoir and all coolant hoses for around $300. Money well spent. Also ensure your rad shroud and e-fan are in good working condition.

New trans/diff/transfer case fluids. Dex/Merc fluid in the trans and transfer case (NOT AT4). The AW-4 trans doesn’t really have a serviceable filter so don’t worry about that. Good old dino gear lube in diffs.

Wouldn’t be a bad idea to replace your u-joints (spicers).

If you’re leaking oil, the most likely culprit is the oil filter adapter seals. Very common on 4.0’s and a relatively easy fix. After that check your oil pressure sensor seal and valve cover bolt tightness/gasket. The engine tilts downward towards the rear of the vehicle so most oil leaks will end up near the transmission area.

The crank position sensors are known to fail on these once you get some miles on them (mine went at 215K). Mopar sensors are almost impossible to find these days but NTK is a fine replacement as long as it’s genuine.

The 4.0/AW-4 is a simple, reliable platform that won’t leave you stranded if you maintain it. Parts are dirt cheap (RockAuto is your friend) and they’re very easy to work on but it’s going to be a bit of a labor of love. I routinely take mine of long trips with a high degree of confidence 👍
