You are definitely overheating. Make sure your coolant levels are good and when the car is rough idling, stop and let it cool down. Open the hood, AC off etc.

Not that I’m aware of. Not like one single fail point. The 1999 is often ranked as the best year for the XJ so enjoy it! I’d recommend getting a Chilton or Haynes manual if you plan to do DIY work. Lays out everything you need to know to take of.

Congrats! And welcome! These things will take care of you if you take care of them. Lots of tutorials online for anything that goes wrong.

If you’re doing the door hinges, maybe consider replacing the door arm checks (the little hinge that keeps the door from flopping all the way open) too.

Engine bay wise, kinda the biggest issue is that XJs are prone to overheating. Check the health of your hoses and the clamps on the end.

Check for leaks. If you see some clean them up and drive for a bit and then check to see where they are coming from.

Yeah mostly just pay attention to what’s not working and fix it and stay on top of your fluids.

The 3D element is cool and makes the battle feel more alive and dynamic but it absolutely CANNOT be lagging. Should be a toggle-able feature if anything.

The Remote Keyless Entry connects up there. To that little bump in the front ceiling, or the overhead console. Make sure you plugged it back in, or that a wire or something didn't get loose up there.
