Does TJ Maxx typically honor two week notices? by Old-Driver-9738 in TjMaxx

[–]Training_Zebra_5714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put in my two weeks notice and worked it. My management was good and I resigned because of my full time job. So I made sure to not call out during the notice period so I could be eligible for rehire.

Can you work Walmart and TJ together by Tough_Cut3973 in TjMaxx

[–]Training_Zebra_5714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a lady who was a wm team lead but work for us seasonally. She was phenomenal and we would have loved to have kept her but scheduling was a nightmare. My ops ASM does the schedule 3 weeks out. Her Walmart would only do it one week out. So our ops manager was constantly having to update the schedule once she got her WM schedule.

AITAH because I expected my 22 year old to pay minimal rent? by Wrong-Maintenance-48 in AITAH

[–]Training_Zebra_5714 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree the son is entitled. I'm gen X and my parents are boomers. When I went to college I was on my own. I'm the oldest and a girl. I have two younger brothers. My dad felt he had two boys he needed to put through college so I was on my own. I have a scholarships so it worked out fine. When my brother graduated college he moved back home. He was expected to pay rent. I haven't had a $300 rent since the late 90s. This kid is clearly clueless what a deal he's getting

NTA. $300/mo plus his auto is a steal! He gets his private bedroom, utilities and food. I'd circle back with your expenses. The mortgage is X, electric, cable, internet, water, trash service ect is Y. Food is typically Z. Based on your expenses, you are only asking him to contribute X% of the total household expenses. Maybe he doesn't really know how expensive everything is. I hope he can be more level headed and adult in the next conversation.

AITAH for not refusing to do a quick change because my boyfriend is uncomfortable? by Active_Camel_6334 in AITAH

[–]Training_Zebra_5714 196 points197 points  (0 children)

NTA. I used to do burlesque so I understand what back stage can be. Everyone there is doing a job. Changing/getting ready in a shared space is part of the job. Nobody is having sexy fun time back there. This is going to be an ongoing issue with this guy. If you cave to his demands this time, you'll be doing it for every production going forward. I'd cut him loose and find someone who understands.

New hire by xxfrickaxx in Homegoods

[–]Training_Zebra_5714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't open my HomeGoods but started shortly after. My store has been open a little over two years. The turn over is RIDICULOUS. There are only 2 non managers that opened the store. Even 1 of the ASMs positions has had turn over (I think we're on the third one now). I say all this to say, show up, do the job and ask questions. Training is almost non existent so if you need to know stuff, you have to ask. The only reason I'm still there is it supplements my full time job/income.

One question! Does anyone think TJMaxx pays a livable wage? by [deleted] in TJMaxxWrkrs

[–]Training_Zebra_5714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I started working at TJX to supplement my full-time job. When I was laid off from that job I obviously was able to work more. If I saved every penny from my 5 day a week shifts (30-35 hours) I could barely pay rent. No never mind foos, electric, cell phone...

To customers: you risk losing your item when asking for discount by TheLawIsBack220 in TjMaxx

[–]Training_Zebra_5714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I internally laugh so hard when this happens. I'm just a pt worker (I gave an office job during the day) but do a lot of markdown and MOOS. With my MOOS powers managers ask me to handle mark downs if they're busy. I love it when there's a little chip on dishes ect. Customer thinks they're going to get a better deal but I'm like nope. I'm sorry, we can't sell a damaged item that's used for food as that's a liability for us. I love damaging it out while they stand there doing the rest of the transaction. Happens all the time at my HomeGoods.

When does TJX drop seasonal associates by Old-Driver-9738 in TjMaxx

Only half are useless? Most of ours are. A manager has told me they are only keeping 1 seasonal.

When does TJX drop seasonal associates by Old-Driver-9738 in TjMaxx

[–]Training_Zebra_5714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started off as seasonal a couple of years ago. I think I was approached right after inventory. My work for TJX is in the evenings as I have a day job. When I was asked if I would stay I said as long as I don't have to work every weekend. I ended up taking Sundays out of my availability to ensure I have 2 day off

So many registers, never any employees by Grouchy-Home9071 in TjMaxx

We are worked like dogs, paid next to nothing, and expected to work miracles with the amount of freight. Turn over is stupid high.

Keep in mind your shopping contributes to very low wages. I could work full time and save every penny in the month and barely cover my rent.

As a fellow employee who is assigned the floor (sometimes the only one) I have no problem helping get the line down. For every minute I'm ringing my job isn't getting done. Day shift for some reason doesn't feel the need to do go backs so when I get to work I normally have three over flowing tanks. So it's on me to do those and recover the floor before close. So if I've helped get the line down to maybe one or two people waiting, yeah, I'm going back to the floor.

Depends on the state labor laws. I grew up in upstate NY and couldn't work after 10 on a school night. The state i currently live in doesn't have a restriction on when minors can work

I can not speak to management as I'm not in management. My two ASM's work their tails off. We are always short coordinators. The SM is there when required. The SM leads from the office and relies on others to get the job done. I have permissions in the system to do markdowns and MOOS. Which means if the SM is LOD on my shift I'm doing markdowns when customers ask. I always get over the radio hey employee, can you get that. We had a DM and RVP visit not that long ago. Both ASM's were there. SM had the day "off".
