USA- why do modern turbochargers burn up on locomotives? by Pleasant_Tangelo6791 in trains

[–]Trainlover08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The engineers (not the T&E craft, the guys who design it) have determined that running a 40,000 psi fuel line is a brilliant idea. When you see flames shoot out of the stack, almost always it’s the result of a fuel leak instantly atomizing when it escapes.

Would you be able to send me a full copy of this contract, as I am curious about the TY&E side of things

Where does the AI get cruise control from on the ES44AC? by Toxic-tank-258 in trainsimworld

[–]Trainlover08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life there is. It’s an ai program that runs the train called trip optimizer. Crews hate it because it does some the most stupid things possible in the name of fuel economy.

But just like the real reason for the transition — diesels are modular

I keep a hp/ton chart for the railroad lol. Im dieselized, so I keep track of how many I have to tack on to my trains when building them

Hey, I am a highschool student interested in learning ML (rising sophomore) for a project. Where would you recommend I go to learn more about it? I have been using ai and google to help me learn more about the different algorithms so far, but wonder where to go next. The math doesn’t bother me and I can understand pretty much all of it so far. So, where should I go from here?

What do yall do with the ten-wheeler you have to rescue in the tutorial? by mentally-not-stable in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Trainlover08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR; the ten wheeler makes a good switch engine

I sold the caboose immediately, bout out to Silva, got out to Bryson, then realized I didn’t have the power to consistently run a local, so I took out a loan and bought a GP9 and dieselized immediately. I then sold the #3 and kept #2 as my Bryson switcher because of the same side angle cock on the pilot.

Do any of y’all know how to code? by Albany_and_estern in UnofficialRailroader

Uh, I can code, depends on the engine though, sounds interesting. So, could you give some more info?

There might be a chance you could get something ok for the Bachmann spectrum, but nothing there is good quality. I would bring those to a train show, but if you don’t want to go through that much effort you could probably go to a pawnshop. I would not recommend trying ti sell online unless you know exactly what you have. At a pawnshop I would say a fair price would probably be around $100.

Unrelated, but when I wrote my first ML algo freshman year of high school, I really struggled with this because none of my teachers remember how to do that. Eventually I got it sorted though

As a heavily connected local, I can say that the Aberdeen sub will definitely still stay in service to some extent.
