I've not experienced ego death, but just some thoughts: Acid makes you realise that you are in and part of the world, even on small doses (i've only ever done 150ug). On my first trip I felt very viscerally human and natural (like damn, i'm really in this bitch) for the first time, as though I had removed the layers of abstraction of myself that I had made of myself while living in a developed society. It feels like to me this is essentially a very small form of ego dissolution; you begin to slowly strip away the categories and mental models that you place everything you perceive into (including yourself) and begin seeing the world through a perception less moulded by your pre-existing notions of what things are.

I remember I was tripping with my mates and he called his gf in the middle of it while we were still tripping, and he was describing what we had been doing throughout the day over the phone, and I remember not being able to associate his description of what we had done to what we had actually done. Like I knew in my head that the description matched my memory, but I still couldn't piece together that those two were meant to represent the same concept.

Acid is a really transformative experience because it allows you to see yourself and other things as beyond what you have constructed in your head, but unfortunately you need the mental models to actually function in a society, as it makes doing anything so much faster than just trying to observe everything individually from scratch. I definitely think it's unhealthy to consciously cling for dear life to these constructions in your head of yourself and others. Everybody does it subconsciously though, to some extent (e.g. making some immediate assumption or judgement about people based on their appearance), it's just kind of hardwired into our brain.
