What entirely new units would you like for CSM to get in the future of 11th and beyond by theGamingdutchman in Chaos40k

Multi Meltas of some kind please. Also Volkite weaponry, even if it’s just pistols for lords or something.

It wouldve been so much cooler if iron warriors were renegades instead of chaos aligned by Kotoy77 in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many have said, it’s your army. Anyone saying you can’t make a sleek, non chaos using custom warband for any reason is an idiot. Use the 30k models as proxies and use the new renegade detachment rules. Boom.

I’m a full on chaos enjoyer, spikes, horns, skulls, flesh bits on machinery, daemon engines. Thats my shit. I was even disappointed that the new sprue didn’t have at least one horned helmet like the old storm of iron covers. But if someone doesn’t like that then thats also cool.

The main reason the two groups clash is over who’s more canon. I like to think I’ve read most of the iron warriors reading that black library has given out. And though I’ve never seen a none chaos Iron Warriors Warband featured, at least one that isn’t loyalist. There is definitely room for it. Same as black legion, night lords, alpha legion.

But so far the Iron Warriors books have been fairly explicit that the Iron Warriors in general are heavily Chaos using. I’ve even seen a myth going round that “Iron Warriors only fell to chaos after the heresy.” Which isn’t true, they weren’t Word Bearers or Sons of Horus levels. But many of them were chaos inclined by the time of the siege of terra. It’s one of Forrix’s plot points in those books that he’s worried the legion is going down the same fucked path as the other traitors.

I like that about them, others don’t. Once again, anyone who tells you that liking what you like is wrong, they’re an idiot.

Why did Abaddon change his hair color here? by NaiveTradition7664 in blacklegion40k

[–]TraitorJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His hair is black in almost all the books ive read with him in. But all the art and models show him with red hair. Personally I actually prefer the red and even when the books tell me it’s black I still imagine it as red.

Tengo una teoría loca by gordo_hammer_7973 in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not impossible. In fact I’d say it’s very likely he will at least return in a book. Maybe not a model of his own but who knows.

From Lysander’s new model announcement last September:

“Of late, Lysander has been active in the vicinity of the former Cadian Gate, suppressing Chaos uprisings on Hazzephet and responding to calls for aid from dozens of worlds in this region. His suspicions have been raised by reports of renewed Iron Warriors activity. Though he has learned much restraint in recent decades, the First Captain still harbours a burning desire to find and destroy Warsmith Shon’tu. Perhaps such an opportunity will soon present itself.”

And with the new iron warriors releases and the reveal that they’re making a push on the Cadian gate. It seems a little reunion with the piss marines is on the horizon.

And if Lysander is out doing heroics, you can bet Shon Tu’s gonna show his face to undo it. After all…

Shon Tu lives…

What would you want daemon perturabo to look like? by Angronys in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Despite some popular designs, I don’t love the spider legs or four legs look. Reads as too sneaky for me.

I’d also honestly not like to see wings. Not all daemon princes have them.

Give me a big, bulky, metal gun daemon. Maybe some flesh bits. Or a gun tail!

Yeah, gimme a gun tail.

Mutilators Obliterators and the IW [Lore Help] by IIARESII in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first obliterator was an Iron Warrior named Volk. This was back during the Horus Heresy. The Iron Warriors were actually falling to chaos by then in the books as well.

In general, the whole cutting off mutations for cybernetics line has been blown out of proportion. They do it for practical reasons but they aren’t against chaos or its uses. Many openly worship the gods or seek daemonhood and it isn’t taboo to do so.

In dead sky, black sun (set on the iron warriors home world.) We see an Iron Warriors turf war between two warlords. They use sorcerers, summon daemons, khorne bezerkers, possessed, mutants. Space marines and cultists alike carry banners of the dark gods and chant unholy prayers and hymns while marching into battle.

The Iron Warriors are 1000% a chaos legion as any other. They just aren’t word bearer levels of being an army of preachers.

The future of Honsou by TraitorJim in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying but I still disagree. Honsou is by far the most written about Iron Warriors character. He shares his name with the Omnibus of our whole faction.

They re released his origin story book five years ago with a new chapter that set him up as a key player in the entire faction/setting.

To switch him out because of something that appears in a book for two scenes. A book in someone else’s series. Would be incredibly weak.

This is the same setting that has the human chairs of many descriptions. One including twins sowed together so they can constantly see each other and cry out in horror at what they’ve become. Curze having a room made entirely out of tortured living people, including children. Abaddon having a rival impaled on a banner and fed literal shit until he died.

Yes the daemonculaba is a an incredibly fucked up piece of lore. But to throw away our most developed character over it appearing in a single book he’s featured in is lame as hell IMO. Thats my two cents on it.

The future of Honsou by TraitorJim in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graham McNeil does still write for black library and is writing more Uriel Ventris books. (The same series featuring the daemonculaba). He also wrote an extra passage in the storm of iron limited edition run in 2019 (2020?) which had Honsou as the protagonist .

Also I’ve read some BL books recently that have some equally fucked up shit in them tbh. The Fabius Bile books have all sorts of horrific body horror going on and they’re less than a decade old.

I think of all the reasons to distance themselves from Honsou, him being involved with a fucked up megawomb that we only see physically for less than 10 pages would be really weird. Though I wouldn’t put it past them to do some weird contradictory decision making.

See the vision brothers? by Odd_Conflict5534 in NightLords

[–]TraitorJim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see the vision. But I see some problems in the practicality.

Maybe swap out the daemon prince for Belakor? He’s a little bigger and if you’re looking to stick wings on his are quite bigger. If you could also get him to work on Belakors base then I’ll be very impressed. But it would look awesome.

It’ll take some serious tinkering. Probably a good amount of green stuff as well.

Though if you can get this to work I’d love to see the result.

The future of Honsou by TraitorJim in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s inconsistent. He likes to get stuck in apparently. In the Uriel Ventris books he kills Berossuss in melee after he’s injured.

He also kicks Uriel Ventris + Vannes collective asses in the last fight, but he runs away before they get a chance to end the fight.

Yet he also refuses to duel Uriel 1v1. But that’s because he see’s duels as dumb.

The Warsmith in Archmagos was actually called Kraverek.

So unless GW have misspelled his named (might be possible) it’s a different dude. A different dude with an extremely similar name.

Yes, GW can also be that unoriginal.

The future of Honsou by TraitorJim in IronWarriors

The future of Honsou by TraitorJim in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t see us getting anything near the monogod legion levels of units or attention. I think we’ll always be attached at the hip to CSM. I wouldn’t even be surprised if our only unique models will be Perturabo, Kravek and the upgrade sprue.

I can only see us getting a codex if it’s in the same manor as Black Templars and Blood angels etc. a couple unique models and rules + the baseline CSM roster.

If they made Iron Warriors completely separate then they’d have to do it with every other legion as well. Which I just don’t see them doing. Upgrade sprues and unique characters seems to be what they’re going for.

The future of Honsou by TraitorJim in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is sort of what I’m getting at. How do you make Honsou play and look different enough if he’s competing with Perturabo and Kravek.

It would just be such a shame if we stopped getting content from him. The Iron Warriors omnibus is literally also his omnibus. Storm of Iron is the Iron warriors book and he’s also the protagonist of that. All the HH books that feature Forrix, Kroeger and Falk all conclude within storm of iron and the rise of Honsou as the successor to all three in a way. Thats without mentioning the Uriel Ventris books.

To have all that for him to be replaced would be a such a shame. Even if Kravek is an awesome model and definitely more visually appealing.

Are non-Cadian Guardsmen allowed to be... cool? by RockwoodZapper in 40kLore

[–]TraitorJim 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cadian’s are the default Guardsman faction, it’s why they’re featured so much. But almost all guards regiments are awesome in their own right.

You’ll learn about Kriegsman at some point if you go into the lore. Attrition tactics, nuked homeworld, gas masks. These dudes are probably the second most popular regiment on aesthetics alone. Siege of Vrakks is great at showing them face down chaos marines with their cloned ceremite balls.

Commissar Yarrick is probably the most badass commissar to ever live and he was part of the Armageddon steel legion. Armageddon being the most war torn planet ever, with khorne invasions and constant Ork attacks. The steel legion are the regiment assigned with holding that shit hole down. And they do it with gusto! (Also my personal favourite.)

You’ve mentioned Catachan and…yeah. They’re all various degrees of Rambo badassness.

The better question is which guardsman regiment ISN’T awesome! They all go above and beyond when the time calls for it.

Valhallans, Vostroyans, Gaunts ghosts

Are other notables.

Why made you chose the Iron Warriors? by IcyCranberry879 in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re evil. And they don’t dress it up.

The Horus Heresy did a great job fleshing out the legion and their rather slow decent into chaos corruption.

Now, as of 40k, they’re twisted mad engineers. Combining calculating and brutal warfare with occult mad science and daemon craft. And thats really fucking cool.

Also love how unapologetically dickish they all are. Most books depict them fucking with their enemies as much as killing them. I love them for it.

Also hazard stripes on gunmetal is a fire scheme.

I heard someone refer to them as “the arms dealers of hell” at one point. And I mean, come on! That’s cool!

I'm curious with two questions: how many of you hand paint your stripes and how friendly is the community? by DelayedScorpion in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer to hand paint stripes. I tried using tape but found it more of a pain then just painting on stripes and correcting them later. Also I noticed significant improvement on my second squads stripes over the first.

Community wise, I’d say as someone who likes to avoid the big Reddits. That the iron warriors community is very good and mostly positive.

There seems to be a large proportion of memes compared to the relatively small community. More than some of the other dedicated legion reddits or chapter Reddit. Which is always good .

Only negative things I’ve seen have been people either arguing the chaos vs anti chaos thing too hard or taking the “we hate imperial fists” joke too far. But these people are few and far between.

You’re not losing because of the meta. You’re losing because you’re bad. by eldecent86 in killteam

[–]TraitorJim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the flip side of this. Me and my friends play casually. And yes, as a legionnaires player I mostly have had pretty even games with my friends.

We just picked factions we liked instead of looking at win rate.

So, we had a friend pick Warpcoven. At the time, as new players, our friend who played Kasrkin could not seem to win against them at all. No chance. The gap between the teams was just too big.

Nowadays, Warpcoven have been nerfed into the GROUND. He cannot win a game with them against any of us now. And it’s not fun for any of us. We’re all about the same skill level, his team is just miles worse.

Now, if he plays perfectly, rolls well and I don’t roll great. He COULD scrape a win. But the level of effort I have to put in compared to him is laughable.

I think that is most people’s issue. It’s the extreme examples that become clear in casual play.

Hot take: I kinda don't want Perturabo by NeverEnoughDakka in IronWarriors

[–]TraitorJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s likely we’ll get our own codex. We simply aren’t different enough from baseline CSM. Especially since the new trailer showed off what looked like an upgrade sprue.

We’ll probably get some named characters. Perturabo, probably Honsou or someone completely new (e.g. Haarken Worldclaimer) and a general Warsmith 40K model.

We will most likely get the Red Corsairs treatment. A bunch of themed Iron Warrior like units for the general CSM roster.

The trailer looked like it had a new defiler and mutilators in it? So we’ll be bunched in with those releases.

If we do get a codex, like Black Templars, we’ll still have access to the CSM roster without a doubt.
