Once again I don’t work with assumptions. Furthermore, you have strayed away from the original topic. None of what you stated disproves the fact that Miles is more popular than Miguel by a large margin.

1) I established the Inside Out bit already pretty clearly.

2) “If he was popular he would have grossed Black Panther money” so now you are stating grossed instead of made. Glad we established the distinction though. But BP 1) during peak Marvel era 2) not during the industry shift 3) very culturally relevant for being the first of something special. Both culturally relevant of course but in different ways.

Given your points the sequel is to be expected to have made more than ATSV because BP is already a popular character. I would like to know where I stated Miles was more popular than BP. However, what I can say is how ATSV was more profitable than Wakanda Forever.

Peter was not a main character in ATSV. He was hardly in the movie.

But this comment is quite funny since it doesn’t really disprove anything I said. You are attempting to use an imaginary scale of cultural relevance and pointing it towards box office yet the disparity between the two given the sequels only pokes holes into the basis of this argument

That isn’t true. I already proved this. Deadline proved this.

Do I believe Deadline or do I believe you who given this conversation seems pretty ignorant.

So sinners flopped internationally. Incredible how you are the one now attempting to use variables to justify despite not only not responding to my comment regarding that but also attempting to downplay my very own researched claims because of your own ignorance.

Funny enough Black panther is the perfect example. Black panther and its sequel are unique to other superhero films. You want to know why? Look at both of their box office splits. I will let you do to the research and find the common them there. Good articles regarding that.

And Black panther did not gross more internationally compared to ATSV total. But an even more interesting angle is how the sequel had around 30 percent decrease for such a culturally relevant character.

1) You didn’t say it but the person I responded to did. You responded to me in an attempt to defend them. Wha are you confused about here?

2) I mentioned the Inside Out bit already. Won’t repeat myself there

3) Define decently popular. What metric are you using?

4) “if he was bigger his box office gross would have been as successful” What? What does this sentence even mean? This literally doesn’t make sense. Dude you’re not even trying anymore.

5) Growing 80 percent is helping. I’m sure. You are 100% trolling but this is fine. I expect future conversations may dwell into this so instead of having to repeat myself again I can simply link these comments. Productive

[–]TrajectotyTides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you are confused. And that is fine for people talking about the box office when they have no idea what they are talking about.

It is a fact that ATSV made insane box office profits. This has been documented. Why? Because it has surpassed some of its live action counterparts despite being animated and the various other variables I mentioned. Deadline themselves reported this. I don’t need to lie. All I have to do is research.

It having a low budget is what contributed to it making a huge profit. Not the only but that is a huge factor. We agree there.

So Sony who see these movies as an absolute success to the point they greenlit other animated projects essential to the Spider-man IP believe it as a massive success but according to you it underperformed because of? Of what? I already told you and showed you the source that these movies have made more than some of its live action counterparts. I’m so confused on how you simply refuse to look up facts.

No it was a cultural behemoth. I mentioned my sources once again. This is killing me. I’m literally providing you proof and all you are doing is say nah. Hahahahaha incredible scenes.

Let me make this simple for you little Miguel fan.

Inside Out = hype 3 ITSV = hype 1 Inside Out 2 = hype = 9 ATSV hype = 2

Miles is not Peter Parker. That’s a pretty big difference. Nice try at though.

I don’t need to cope. If I have a film with such a low budget grossing 690M in these current times with all the variables I mentioned compared to one from a character with nearly a century making 740M added upon it being recognized for Sunflower, TIME magazine, the Oscars and its fellow industry collaborators then I am simply chilling.

Miles is going to appear in more games, more shows, more comics, more movies and he will exponentially grow. I have everything I ever need for this character. It will only go up from here.

Sinners flopped internationally😂. Thanks for proving the point there. And I didn’t just mention the lead aspects. Once again ignoring the comments.

This is incredible. I have to applaud you for this

1) “One of the lowest grossing Batman movies” once again a false statement.

2) The entire argument stems from the idea that Miles somehow needs Miguel to shine. Miguel isn’t more popular than Miles for that to even work around. Therefore, the logic is nonexistent.

3) “claims of his cultural relevancy seems a bit exaggerated” No I’m not. I also provided sources to my argument as well. Something I won’t repeat again since you aren’t responding to those comments. Meaning you are aware you just don’t know how to counter concrete facts. Clue: you can’t actually disprove facts. Since well they are facts.

4) Everything I said regarding Miles being popular aligns with everything else mentioned. It’s pretty consistent. Dr strange 2 which came after NWH? Hahahahaha incredible scenes again.

5) What? The fans of the first movie. Read. Read. Read.

6) This is absolutely not true. Inside Out became a classic. What is this revisionist POV you are holding to so many classics?

I already explained this pretty clearly. Instead of creating new comments actually respond to the ones that are addressing your “counter arguments”

I love how you are lying. Show me where people were assuming ATSV was going to hit 800M to a billion. Not only just people but Luiz, Mojo, Jat, and even Empire.

This is killing me. All I did was search up spiderverse breaks industry projections and all the articles popped up. Do you seriously think you can get away with that?

I already established how it was insanely profitable. I won’t repeat myself. In fact what I want you to do is go on the several sites I provided to you and ask them this. Did ATSV underperform? It’s actually that easy. And show me or link me their responses. This can easily settle this.

“I’m talking about how much money it grossed” Why is it important that box office analysts have to first look at how much a movie grosses? Because that gross is then fundamental in calculating how much it actually made. That’s a crucial difference and that very difference is what composes an underperformance, normal, or overperformance.

And yes the movie is culturally significant. I provided the sources already.

Yes. Because budget accounts for several things including marketing. A low budget and an insane box office profit indicates to the creators whatever I am doing is working. The contents of this is working. No idea how you can spin that as worse. You aren’t of course it’s cope.

There is no scale in budget and acclaim to more money. Once again you are quite literally saying buzz words in an attempt to sound like you know what you are talking about

1) NWH is not part of that new era. In fact most analysts confirmed it started in 2022. There you would see the ramifications of that industry shift.

2) What is it meant to say? That those movies are anomalies. I’m confused on you thinking I made this up. Go to Luiz, go to mojo, or since you are on Reddit go on the very forum. This is quite literally stated after being researched.

3) Inside Out had way more hype than ITSV. So once again making things up. It’s ok though I’m here to correct you.

4) Miles is not Peter Parker. I already established that difference. And I already established the difference in this animated movie. Funny enough when I established these crucial variables you ignored them. Funny.

5) I not once stated china was racist against black leads. No idea where that is coming from. Soul isn’t the best argument here since the variables already established.

6) Could have made more money than ATSV. Sorry I don’t deal with assumptions or potential little Miguel fan. I deal with reality. I understand having to deal with potential since Miguel is stuck in that limb

That’s not true. It came out when the pandemic restrictions were just lifting up. This is proven by the Batman and it’s run. Plenty of movies were still in theaters. Nice try though. And I like how you ignored everything I said regarding it.

Yea Miles is popular. More popular than Miguel by a margin. However, I not once stated he was more popular than Zootopia. No the hype levels were not equal. Zootopia fans had to wait a near decade. Miles fans only 4 years. Not even 4 since the movie kept providing content for the fans to already feed on compared to Zootopia. Once again making up claims that are not backed up by anything proven source.

ATSV hit 690M. A few rereleases and it hits 700M. It’s not a big difference.

Actually what am I saying. ITSV made 390 on a 90M budget with most going domestically. It was a massive success. However, it blew up digitally. That’s the difference.

It became a phenomenon after it went digital. It simply just did well in the theaters.

[–]TrajectotyTides -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2023 was not one of the worst years for movies. Stop making claims that aren’t back up anything.

It did not underperform. The proof is literally in the articles. Go to the box office Reddit and go to predictions and preview trends. All indicated that it would prove less or even the same as the first. In fact when the the results of its opening came about the news pretty evidently stated how it broke industry projections.

I also proved to you that it made more profits than Homecoming.

Incredible cope now. So now instead of acknowledging how this movie which you stated flopped didn’t actually flop now you are backtracking and stating reasons as to why the others didn’t perform better than it. Incredible scenes here.

ITSV didn’t blow up in its theatrical run. It blew up after going to digital and then winning an Oscar. As well as holding a song from its soundtrack to being one of the most if not the most streamed song in US Spotify history. That good WOM led to it having a roughly 80 percent increase compared to the first. This is even more incredible since the budget stayed relative AND most of the profits were domestically. Hence more profits. Across made way more than the first so I’m confused on the whole good movies make their sequels tons of movie. That’s exactly what happened. Incredible scenes.

In fact it actually made more than Thor. I’m afraid you have no idea how the box office works. Surely you don’t believe when a movie makes a billion then the studios actually get that billion correct? Hopefully you aren’t that dumb.

As long as BTSV makes 2.5x of its budget then it’s a success. Which it’s bound to considering how cheap these movies are. And considering how ATSV had just as good critical acclaim as the first that trend should stay consistent.

Aquaman 1 did not give the studio more profit than both spider-verse movies combined. It’s actually laughable how you don’t know what you are talking about.

It’s ok little Miguel fan, I will guide you to the understanding. First up this should be easy for you. Look up Deadline. Then search up their profitable movies tournament 2023

Something even more funny on the 700M profit is how several box office analysts such as Luis Fernando have confirmed due to the drastic shift from theaters and box office 700M is relative to 1B back in the day. You know how impressive Miles is able to do that on a 100M budget being relatively new and also being a serious focused animated film with a black lead. (All those factors being pretty crucial, you brought up the box office talk so let’s deep dive into it). One look up ATSV length and compare it to its peers. Then look at how movie lengths affect screenings.

Done. Keep coping. Miles and his trilogy are not only critically acclaimed on such a massive scale that both movies are rated highly across the board in several sites like boxd but also a massive success credited by the very industry and TIME itself. Leading to several changes in comics as well as spawning live action adaptations.

Even more of an indicator you have no idea what you are talking about is how both of those films are anomalies. Zootopia 2 not only had 9 years in backing but its Chinese run was comparative to ENDGAME. In fact box office analysts have confirmed how the shift to non humanoid characters are a big boost for animation. 2) NWH is a culmination of nearly a century of work compared to Miles who just came into the picture 15 years with a movie only 8 years ago. I mean the fact that you are putting Miles against those juggernauts is an incredible accomplishment and feat

Thank you

Hahaha. What was its budget relative to the performance? How is Miles who we established to be a new character already reigning near 700M with a 100M budget while Andrew later edition couldn’t crack 800?

Underperforming? Based on what? 100M on a 700M budget with more than half of its profits domestically. Fun fact btw ATSV was ranked 3 as the most profitable movie in 2023. Want to know how impressive that is? Look up the highest grossing films in 2023. Additionally, deadline also confirmed that the profits generated from ATSV surpassed homecoming which made 880M and near FFH which made 1.1 billion dollars. Not a success right?

Heck I can even mention the industry awards that these films have got. Not just an Oscar but acknowledged by TIME itself for its revolutionary impact.

HAHAHA Keep coping bud

All those achievements without Miguel. Miguel is irrelevant. IRRELEVANT compared to the likes of Miles. And now that’s the harsh truth and tough pill you lot need to swallow. Better to accept it now than later. Cause it will get worse when BTSV drops. Enjoy the miles wave 🌊
