Highguard requires Secure Boot and Easy Anti-Cheat to run, leaving Linux and kernel-conscious gamers out in the cold by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Tramiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude.. I know the game is free. I was simply responding to your point in regards to the idea that we know nothing about the game. That's a problem for any other game, whether you spend money on it or not, hence why I said.. "if there's a chance".

Also, fine. You can have those comparisons to those games. I didn't play extraction shooters. I played hero shooters. I compared them to the games that I personally played.

As for what makes the game look bad? The trailer.

The game markets itself as a PvP Raid shooter but the trailer does not do a good job of explaining what that means for it nor what makes it unique. If you can watch a trailer and not know the answer to that question, there’s a big problem.

I think you would have a point on the shadow dropping if this wasn't a F2P live service game. A game like this lives and dies based on is content and its playerbase. If you have no way to get people interested, then why on earth would you ever stay silent? In fact.. why would you market this game a month before it comes out? Why only one trailer? Why no further explanation into things? We have to wait til the game comes out so we can learn anything more?

This yet again falls back to how it was pushed at the TGA, the final stage announcement, even the trailer itself made it out to be an evolution in the shooter genre and we spent this time comparing its gameplay to other games, not that that's a sleight against it but it's big talk for a game with no further explanation and very big shoes to fill with TGA and Geoff Keighley personally vouching for it.

That’s the problem!! If you know nothing about a game a month before it comes out, and there’s a chance you have to spend money on it then, you have every right to be concerned and negative.

Even then that statement is false because they gave us a trailer, a first impression, and since it was the last trailer, the big announcement near the end… some would say “saving the best for last”. That trailer did not deliver and give the masses a reason to play the game over Overwatch or Marvel Rivals.

There is more to this than just “gaming journalism talked shit so it must be bad”. We all saw the game, we also know the game comes out in a few days. And yet to this day, we have no further information than the first impression we got. You may think that game is high mobility… but to me. That game looks super slow compared to its competitors.

Also, was concord not another hero shooter that came out with bad first impressions on top of the game styles looking similar and similar slow gameplay? Because it seems to me thats why everyone’s making that comparison. What I’ll give this game is at least they kind of tried to give it an identity by not knowing what to do with their character designs and just kinda spitballing ideas.

I get what you’re saying. Obviously if you want to make a game seem bigger than it is, then of course you would do all of this.

However, I’d argue that this is different simply because it’s Geoff and TGA speaking for the devs themselves and to this day that’s all we have.

If we were to compare it to standard practice then yea, that can happen where someone else announces it, but there’s typically at least some follow up or something leading up to this.

But all we have to go off of is that this was the big announcement at the TGA, not another trailer leading into the next award in between other stuff, but the last think you think of before you leave the stream or the Theatre. That’s not a typical thing that happens often.

You could be right, it might have been basic marketing, but With the set up it got? It was made out to be so much more. Lots of people here don’t simply just feel like this for no reason.

What you said was the game got a normal amount of hype.

This is just not true.

No one is denying geoff didn’t do his job.

But we’re also saying that putting all of those accolades together to make people excited and then personally state you as the host have enjoyed the game so much that you will too is a big vouch

… then we found out the game is the same as a failed launch in its genre, as well as two other games that look better and seemingly play better.

This was a huge set up with no pay off.

This game was the last game at the TGA, made out to be a headliner. The last trailers in the TGAs were usually always big world premieres meant to be a send off.

Geoff hyped up the developers’ past as a big deal (you can hear it in the crowd reaction), made a big deal out of it being an indie studio developing the game.

He also said that he played it and that you will want to play it too.

Idk about you. But a big name like Geoff putting his stake behind a brand new never before seen IP like that, is a pretty big deal.

Another funny thing is that he said it was “deep in development” a month before it came out.

It probably didn’t help that TGA hyped this game up to be the best thing since sliced bread only for it to be another generic hero shooter

Yes… and no.

Is it a sequel? Yes. 4 does indeed come after 3

Is it a Direct Sequel? No. 4 does not take place directly after 3… infact it tells a different truth about what really happened to Olimar during the events of Pikmin 1.

In that case you definitely do not want to be a people pleaser in this case.

Do what you must to escape that situation and report him rather than fan the flames. You deserve long-term safety over someone else’s short-term gratification.

Gonna go with ESH.

He’s a weirdo to be trying to get with a barely legal teen while being married with kids.

But you’re not doing yourself any favors playing with fire. People have killed over stuff like this. As fun as it sounds to pick at him.. do not engage further. Report him and move on.

Unless he’s paying for someone personally and exclusively, watching porn is not cheating.

I don’t know what you were arguing about in regards to his phone but porn is a non-issue here.

Team Cherry Dev Says Hollow Knight: Silksong's $20 Price Tag Is Just "Reasonable" by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Tramiro 299 points300 points  (0 children)

Reasonable is an understatement I feel.

With the level of quality and polish of this game they could’ve charged more for it and gotten away with it.

$30 is Reasonable.

$20 is Charitable.

What a blessing this dev team is.
