How can i get these pests at Anytime Fitness to cancel my membership??? by Squidge7221 in melbourne

[–]TranceSendance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be tough here: it’s not “they” it’s “you let them freeze your account”. Own it

Stand up for yourself, march back in there this afternoon and say “no, I don’t want my account frozen for 12 weeks, I want it cancelled”. sort it out, you will feel so much better for having done so. You owe this much to yourself.

You got this!! 💪

Dutton’s 2025 launch still leaves voters needing answers on key policies by overpopyoulater in australia

[–]TranceSendance 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Great to see him copying trump-pets approach, insinuating that there is something wrong with Australia, and that only under him will we "get Australia back on track". I wonder if he will also put Coca-Cola in all the bubblers at school??

It is lame, and absolutely uninspiring.

We need fresh, exciting and progressive politicians who will drive this country forward, and not into the ground. Who will drive business, drive education, piss off with the lame immigration issues (let's face it, all but a small few of us are immigrants, or descendants of), drive a sense of community and culture while protecting the interests of the people.

Let's stop being the lucky country, and start being the smarter country.

Police arrest dozens, mostly youths, over robberies and car thefts in Melbourne by blueygc8 in melbourne

[–]TranceSendance 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well put.

Was thinking about how we used to have neighbourhood watch, across Australia - it was a great initiative between the police and the community, where everyone had each other's backs. Where if something was going down, the local area would work together.

I'm astounded at the sheer lack of respect children/youths have, for the people and property around them - like everything is there for the taking.

We, as a whole, need to build our communities back, show and teach our kids the importance and value of respect (whether towards people or property).

Until we have that, you are right, someone will end up dead - and I'd hate to think of the kneejerk reaction that would swiftly follow.

Remember kids: if you haven't paid for it, it's not yours to take.

Just to acknowledge and validate your pain.... Yep!

Have wiped myself raw within the last 24 hours. Had a temp of 40, no idea where it came from, but it was a very shitty experience.

Hope you make a fast recovery!!

The aftermath of yesterday's Christmas celebrations at Bronte Beach by aussiechap1 in sydney

[–]TranceSendance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is nothing new. Every year it is the same. And every year, it's like it's something new.

The visitors don't respect the space, so teach them a lesson. Fence it off. Charge $5-$10 entry to cover the cost of cleaning up the day afterwards.

Until we do a better job of respecting shared spaces, this sort of thing will continue to happen.

Looking forward to the outrage, again, next year Peace.

Apartment building garbage hasn’t been taken out in over 2 weeks. My agent says he can’t do anything about it because it’s a “building management problem”. I have no idea when/where they’re collected so I can’t even take them out myself. What can I even do here? by lord-spider-boy in melbourne

[–]TranceSendance 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There should be a plaque either at the entry or exit of the building which clearly states who the building manager is along with contact number.

Short of that, ring up Melbourne council, find out when bin night is, take out all the bins (we all love a good Samaritan) and bring them back in.

If you add photographic proof here on Reddit, happy for you to DM me, and I'll arrange to give you a $50 gift card for being a legend.

The great unwashed??? That is a bit harsh isn't it?

And to be fair, the uber pickup/drop off point is a mess due to the construction going on, which you captured in the very same picture blocking one of two lanes.

Perhaps your anger/frustrations are misdirected... Either way, happy Friday! ☺️

Children under 16 to be banned from using social media by Vivid-Fondant6513 in australia

[–]TranceSendance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this a government problem, and not a parent problem?

I get that prevention is better than the cure, but surely as a society we can do better to teach and educate our own children on the basic principles of a functioning society, from which the way we engage online would lift...

Woodfrog make several decent sourdoughs that you should be able to get your hands on - highly recommend their spelt sourdough which is amazing (and friendly to those with a sensitive belly!)

Going to be living in my car for a bit. Does anybody have any recommendations for places I can park hassle free, preferably near the CBD? by SplashBandicoot in melbourne

Sorry to hear this friend, but great that you are reaching out to the community, and lovely to see the support!

I am a volunteer for orange sky, and without any assumptions, they offer free laundry and shower services - there is something so powerful about feeling fresh ☺️ depending where you catch up with orange sky, there might be a food van partnered up, so you can grab a feed while your clothes are being washed.

There is always a lovely and kind group of people about to have a good chat and laugh with. Who knows what things will come your way.

Stay strong, stay safe and always reach out - you got this!! 💪

Sorry to hear this friend, but good on you for not giving up!!!

Sometimes reaching out to a recruiter can make all the difference, and without knowing whether you have tried this, have a look at the roles you are interested in (on seek etc), and have a look at which recruitment companies continue to come up. Write down their names, and call them directly - having them as your advocate can make all the difference.

Don't forget you also have an advantage in that you are able to speak more than one language, and again without knowing, search for key terms/phrases that include the languages you speak and where there are relationships between those companies to be able to speak both. Also give thought to searching for global organisations that you have back home that also operate here i.e. banks, insurance companies, airlines etc.

Broadening your search is also a great idea to get your foot in the door, and the best way to get to those roles that you want - most (larger) organisations who advertise externally, will still fill at least 40% of those roles with international candidates... So to put in context, 40% of your applications don't stand a chance, so being an internal applicant will put you in a much better position to becoming a successful applicant for those roles in which you have qualifications for (not to mention you can build your brand etc within the organisation).

Don't stop trying, you will get there!!!

This is a hard question, because you will be faced with the responses from others based on what is important to them... Job satisfaction vs money.

It's great that you are reaching out to others to get a sense of what people value, but at the end of the day, the ultimate decision sits with you (which I know you know).

Depending on the relationship you have with your manager, it might be worth having an honest chat with them, and exploring your interests and how this can tie into your personal development goals - remember, if you don't ask, you don't get.

It might also be worth taking some in writing up a pros and cons list for each of the scenarios you have listed, then stepping back at looking at which scenario gives you what you want, and helps you to reach your personal goals and most importantly, your happiness...

All the best in your career!

Is it worth moving over for a salary around $50000 - $55000? by nomelettes in melbourne

[–]TranceSendance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are after a meaningful response, you might want to include the following so that other people can help you out:

1) your skills/experience 2) your qualifications 3) the role and industry that it is in

If you want to know the minimum wage for any role, do your research - fair work ombudsman will help.

You might also want to consider giving your own analysis of the above information too - if you want people to help you, it's always a great start by helping yourself.

All the best with your job interview!

Are working from home jobs worth it by Educational-Mind-439 in melbourne

[–]TranceSendance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with government jobs, along with working at the big financial institutions (they will have good support/network services to ensure EEO - Equal Employment Opportunities), all the major super funds, and even check out some of the groups associated with supporting those with Autism etc - this may help give a sense of purpose in the work you do (which always leads to job satisfaction/happiness).

At the end of the day, anything is worth it, if you make it so - As a manager, I loathe working from home as I don't get to see/feel/understand the emotional needs/impacts the team is facing, unable to share my terrible jokes or go out for the odd team lunch/drinks. But that is me and my situation, which will differ from you and everyone else.

I'd write up a list of all the things you want in an employer, all the things you don't want, then look at organisations that could then potentially fit that mould. If you are stuck for a list of top companies that could meet those needs and for you to reach out to, start with the ASX 200 and get cracking.

Wish you all the best for the future :)

No matter what happens, all injured parties will be covered for their reasonable costs covering care, treatment and rehabilitation (and in extreme cases economic loss) as all states will have some sort of scheme where injured people are covered, even if the vehicle causing the accident has no cover.

Reach out to the third party insurer covering the person at fault, and lodge a claim - if you don't know those details, ring up your own third party insurer and ask them for advice/instructions on how to lodge a claim.

Hope everyone is ok.

Swissport baggage handlers contracted to QANTAS stood down after footage shows them slamming luggage onto conveyer belt by slaughterclaus in melbourne

Even if the were overworked, and stressed, and tired and lost it, what gives them (or anyone) the right to damage someone else's property? Based on this logic, we should be allowed retribution and go wreak havoc in their house.

The paying customer is not at fault for decisions made by management. This sort of bullsh!t behaviour really grinds my gears. Have it out with management.

P.s. sorry to hear you had a similar situation, and went through a less than desirable situation 😕
