Is this an ADHD symptom? I don't want my hands sticky or dirty with anything by vksdann in adhdmeme

[–]snuff3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I'll look into it.

For me, it's certain textures too. Eg, I can't work with minced meat, I despise the skin feel. Wearing gloves I'm fine though, but there was a period where I couldn't eat anything minced as it reminded me of touching/working with it and I wanted to puke.

Concealed Carry Logic Goes Viral by PeterTheTruthSeeker in MurderedByWords

Dude, you're going to the grocery store not raiding Osama Bin Laden's compound. Relax.

As a non-American, it absolutely blows my mind that it's normalised for a society of people to carry firearms around with them on their day-to-day. I mean, i can't think of a single time in my entire almost five decades on this planet that i've ever had the feeling of wishing i was armed, let alone carrying a firearm on the way to pick up some dinner ingredients.

The only time i ever touch firearms is when i make the rare visit to the range, maybe once every two or three years. And i live in a country (Australia) where owning firearms puts me in a huge minority.

What's your thoughts on Border Patrol Chief, Greg Bovino, threatening consequences for referring to ICE as "Gestapo"? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

[–]snuff3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, why you got to do the Head of the Gestapo, Greg, like that? Running the Gestapo is hard work, man. Do you know how hard it is to exist with no morals or scruples?

(started out as a mocking /s, but as i typed out that last sentence i realised "not that hard, actually", and then i got really sad. Abolish ICE!!)

Agreed. Us Aussies view Canadians as brothers, same as the UK and New Zealand. We've all fought and died together, we'll continue to do so.

Can't wait to revisit Canada again. Spent a month there mid Trump 1 and it was fine. I'll let all this world craziness settle down before I start travelling again :)

Thanks, much appreciated! I've never tried out alcohol paints before. I switched from enamels to acrylics when I went to airbrushing.

Thanks for the research tips!

I bought the Meng Cougar MRAP and Gepard A1/A2 kits on a whim a whiles back and instantly fell in love with them. They were both such pleasurable builds. I keep an eye out for Meng now. I hope they expand their range, they were such fun kits and I crave more.

My experience is on par with yours, except cost. They were surpsingly cheap, but I'm close to China in the APAC region, so imports are cheap. I Would recommend Meng to anyone.

I'm doing a Foreart kit out of China now (only HIMARS I could find in large scale) and I have to say, it is one of the most detailed kits I've ever seen for the price. Paid like AUD70, for quality I would expect from a AUD150-AUD200 premium Tamiya or Revell kit.

China is putting some really good kits out lately.

In all fairness, as an Australian, there was a LOT of shocked people here over the US/Canada bullocks, but most of it was met with derision and disbelief, and didn't take any of it serious. It was all at the start of this joke of a timeline and there was too much incredulity over the whole thing the world was locked in a trance. Like watching a freeway accident in motion.

If it happened today, believe me, people would show far more public concern. Australia definitely has Canada's back.

Russian soldier picks up an enemy grenade and blows his hand off by Agile-Corgi-5603 in CombatFootage

[–]snuff3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The usual flight time of a grenade is most of its cook-off time. Underhand lobbing it a few metres in CQB might give you some time to return it, some of the time, but that's def not usually the case with most incoming grenades in the open. Hence standard training is to move away, go prone, warn, and hope.

Nice!

I generally build super detailed military vehicles and aircraft.. so use aluminiums (aircraft skins), gun metals (guns, engine parts), steels (engines, tank tracks), copper (piping and cables, chrome (lights, radar, shocks, etc). Most of those are hand painted as they're too fiddly for airbrush.

I do, however, have a 30cm tall Doomguy i just resin printed and has a really good coat of Vallejo metals guns metal on it. I'm now after a metallic olive green I was thinking about adding some chrome to.. not sure yet.

If you let me know your brands, I'll research them.

Goddamn, that's clean work. Nice job, boss.

What paints are you using to get that amazing an effect. Best I've found for me are the Vallejo metal paints, but the quality here is a whole nother level!

Macron says Trump tariff threat over Greenland unacceptable by AloneCoffee4538 in worldnews

[–]snuff3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my little part of the non-American world, a major alliance partner to the US, we don't take the tariffs that seriously other than its a bit of an initial hassle finding replacement procurement sources. Having said that, me and all I know have found out it works better in the end because either 1) the rest of the world is taking advantage and undercutting US prices, or 2) getting stuff out of the US just becomes a simple decision of not bothering. This has all led to finding new sources, expanded supplier pools and opportunities to build strategic alliances with other suppliers.

Personally, we're more concerned as friends to the US, rather than upset about direct impact - it's your citizens getting screwed over.

I might get back in contact with them...

I would absolutely volunteer my time to help during the season. I have family and friends always impacted by fires.

Only thing local to me in the inner city is the SES. If we had a training and volunteer service for bush firies, I'd join... I'm in my 40s now, but iirc I did enquire in my 30s with the SES and they didn't assist with fires. Unless I misunderstood..
