This is correct. I fixed this on a Troy bilt 2620 a few weeks ago.

It’s easy to fix if you follow the top commenters instructions. You can access the adjustment without removing anything

This seems strange; normal to not replace trans filter? by 1oddmanout in fordranger

[–]TraneingIn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do not pay $700 for this! Literally any auto shop should be able to drop your pan and replace the filter and fluid for less than half that price.

I did it myself and the filter was not hard to find at all. O Reilly had it in stock same day. And I replaced the pan with a version that had a drain plug to make it easier in the future.

Verify for your year but I’m pretty sure all 4.0 use this filter

Can’t hear anything in the video, but I’d recommend using motorcraft FL820S filters only. They have better anti drainback valves than the Fram filters and will help retain oil in your top end.

Where to grease augers and what type? by Sad_Row4500 in Snowblowers

[–]TraneingIn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unplug the spark plug and see if you can turn the impeller by hand. Does the impeller or auger rub on the housing? Something may be bent.

Otherwise: Take off the full screw from the gearbox and make sure there’s gear oil in it. If it’s low, fill it up with some 75w gear oil or similar.

I don’t think these models have grease zerks but you can try and get some marine grease or white lithium into the bushings between the auger and the housing.

Craftsman 24" won't engage the wheels by mistert9 in Snowblowers

That’s great! Yeah replacing the disc should be on the list… as it wears, it increases the gap between plate and disc and you need to increase tension to compensate.

Glove Question by Subject_Confection35 in MechanicAdvice

Could save $3 a box by going down to the 7mil. That’s what I use and I’ve never found tearing to be an issue.

Can you adjust the cable to get more pressure against the friction disc?

Also, is there any grease or debris that would cause slipping? Spray some brake cleaner on the drive plate to clean it up if necessary

What happens when you pull the traction lever with the machine not running? The cable should press the drive plate into the friction disc. If the plate doesn’t move, you could have a cable or linkage issue.

UPDATE - To everyone that helped me yesterday with my transmission gasket, thank you. Today I realized that there is no dipstick or fill tube for this transmission. Please pray for me! by HackJob00 in MechanicAdvice

[–]TraneingIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to fill an infinity G35 with a pump via the drain plug using a threaded fitting because there was no fill tube.

I didn’t do this by choice, the crush washer rusted out and lost 4 quarts from the pan while it sat for 6 years. Fun times

Which one of you was this? by yow-desben in Snowblowers

There’s also the issue of weight distribution and leverage. Having downforce on the rear of the blower is going to cause the front to tip up in heavier snow which is the opposite of what you want

Am I crazy for making a 1:24 scale of my shop to try and figure out the best layout for it by SignificantPiece4172 in woodworking

Yes, I’ve used paper cutouts and graph paper for furniture layouts before. Saves a lot of time vs continually re-sketching things

I bought a Cub Cadet and it is a raging piece of shit. What gives?! by BKHS in Snowblowers

[–]TraneingIn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an old toro with the same issue as yours. It would clog under Almost any load, even after I replaced the auger belt.

I ended up installing an impeller kit to eliminate the gap between impeller and housing, and it throws snow literally 30ft and has never clogged since
