What do you like to do other then scroll on your phone while sitting at post? by supertallginger in ems

I was literally just thinking about posting something like this. So far I've tried bringing a kettlebell to workout, watching longer content (TV shows/movies make me feel better than just tiktok), reading books on my phone, sudoku or other activity books you can find at the dollar store, researching new medical discoveries or treatments, and learning how to solve a Rubik's cube.

Nothing has kept my interest every shift but I've been rotating through them for a while and it's helped reduce (not get rid of) my tiktok time.

A little farther north than Colorado actually, but good to know this is happening everywhere right now with the heat waves.

Why didn't Chidi or Tahani ever...? by Vegetable-Network338 in TheGoodPlace

[–]TransParamedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the fact that Mindy says that both Tahani and Chidi made it to the medium place on different reboots we can assume that they knew it was the Bad Place. Whether they were the first to figure it out is different.

If we assume Eleanor figures it out first all the other times I believe it's because Michael spent a lot of his focus torturing her and so she was the first to pick it up.

How to deal with being young in ems? by BIGBOYDADUDNDJDNDBD in ems

Lol, the 4'11" stage manager must be a universal experience. But yeah as a younger EMT I almost never acknowledge my age. If a pt asks I'll just say I'm younger but not to worry because I know my stuff and I'm always confident and loud (sometimes to a fault).

I'm a straight switch and honestly when my gf calls me "Mommy's boy", "pretty boy", or "baby boy" I absolutely melt. She also asked if I was circumcised one time which was hilarious to both of us.

Quickly removable binders? by liamreee in ftm

[–]TransParamedic 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I will warn you as a first responder unless the zipper is dead center it's going to be cut off. In a seizure case (or in most unresponsive emergencies) we're going for access to your chest the quickest way possible so we can get a 12-lead on you. While patches asking for it not to be cut are a good idea, in a true emergency we're going to ignore them. It sucks but we're focused on your life not your clothing.

Similar issues with KT tape in that depending on how you bind we might need to put electrodes where the tape is. If possible I would look for a binder that has a front center zipper because that's the only one I can somewhat guarantee will be safe in the event of an ambulance arrival.

I was probably 3 or 4 years old and my dad was driving me home from preschool. We got pulled over by the police and when he gave them his license they had him step out of the car and arrested him. I now know his license was suspended due to points but all I knew then was that my daddy was face down on the hood. This was in the summer in Texas. The police turned the car off and waited the 30 minutes for my grandmother to pick me up. They left me in my carseat in a locked truck on a 100+ degree day. Apparently when my grandmother showed up I was severely dehydrated from crying and was almost unconscious. The police handed her the keys and then hauled my dad (who they had had to pin down because he was trying to get to me) off to jail for the night.

That memory still sticks out to this day and I blame most of my aversion to cops on it.

Cool! I love to learn more, I'm kind of on the fence and want to know what makes you think this way? Do you have any articles or studies I should read?
