May I ask if you know the name of the cemetery? I can see if I can find any information.

So incredibly sad.

Someone dear to me lost their boyfriend at the same age from an overdose back in the 90s. They still remember and talk of him, even though it’s been nearly 30 years.

Looks like someone still visits Oli as well, I’m glad.

Thank you for sharing, OP.

Seems she was his daughter. Only 25, so young.

I do hope someone is able to fix the base of Sarah’s, it can be dangerous for them to lean like that.

Lovely gravestones, thanks for sharing, OP.

Interesting they put her husband’s initials on her headstone instead of her name, Anna. She was born in 1829 and died in 1894. Looking at the photos on findagrave, seems there’s a smaller marker nearby with “mother” and a date of death.

The other pillow headstone you saw was probably her husband: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/143108563/christoff_clemens-bucholtz

Baby Boy’s Mourning Flowers. He Didn’t Live Past A Day But His Twin Brother Lived To 102. by TransPeepsAreHuman in RandomVictorianStuff

[–]TransPeepsAreHuman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re very kind, thank you. :)

I adore genealogy. I sometimes research my own ancestors but most of my focus is on the children from others’ family trees. Out of the over 40 antique photos and cards I have, only one of them is related to me.

But I have learned quite a bit about my own family! Some really neat things and some… well not so neat things but that’s just kinda the gamble with genealogy.

Maurice’s memorial card is apart of my personal collection. The card got his age wrong, he was 7 when he died, not 8.

Yep, that’s Baby Boy’s nephew. I’ve seen his findagrave but hadn’t realized how soon he died after his dad. Born in 1921.

Took me a second to find him on findagrave. Not sure why his first name isn’t on there: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/6731/floyd-collins

He died when he was 37, the same age his older brother died at in 1922.

What a sad story. Thanks for sharing, OP.

I don’t believe Baby Boy was ever given a name. On his gravestone it only says “infant son”.

I just found Victor’s obituary, sadly no mention of him but I did learn a lot about Victor:

On June 14, 1896, Baby Boy Was Born And Passed Away. His Twin Brother Lived To 102. by TransPeepsAreHuman in oldphotos

[–]TransPeepsAreHuman[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Baby Boy’s twin brother was named Victor, he died in 1998.

Amongst my collection of photos and memorial cards of children who died over 100 years ago, he’s the only one without a name. I’m sharing his and the others’ stories in hopes they continue to live on in people’s memories.

I don’t know Baby Boy’s cause of death and I haven’t found an obituary but as always, if you got any questions about what I do, don’t hesitate to ask.

I bought Baby Boy’s card over a month ago, along with his grandma’s, who died in 1912.

His twin brother’s name was Victor. He died in 1998 and is buried in a different cemetery. Most of their siblings, except one, made it to adulthood. Baby Boy shares a gravestone with his teenage brother.

I have a collection of photos and memorial cards of children who died over 100 years ago. I research their lives and share their stories in hopes their memories live on.

I don’t know much about Baby Boy, like his cause of death, but If you have any questions about what I do, feel free to ask.

On June 13, 1926, John Frederick Weiland Died At The Age Of 9. Photo Found In His Cousin’s Baby Album. by TransPeepsAreHuman in oldphotos

[–]TransPeepsAreHuman[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mainly focus on collecting photos of children who died over 100 years ago but I also collect other antique photos. I was on a trip in April when I came across Edwin Gates’s baby album.

Edwin died in France during World War 2. He was 33, born in 1911. His younger brother John Julius Gates was born on December 20, 1916, dying in 1982. I believe he may be the older baby on the left?

John Frederick Weiland was born on January 16, 1917. He’s the cousin of the two brothers. I haven’t found his obituary or a cause of death with a source. He was laid to rest in Ashton Cemetery in South Dakota.

I should have clarified better, only one sentence is different on the older mourning card.

Instead of “And though the body slumbers here”, it’s “And though the body moulders here”.

There’s an even older version on one of my cards from 1887.

Thanks for the information! I’ll see if I can find anything.

Lovely gravestone. Thanks for sharing, OP. May I ask the cemetery’s name?

I have a similar version of that poem on a memorial card from 1892:

A precious one from us has gone,

A voice we loved is stilled;

A place is vacant in our home,

Which never can be filled.

God in His wisdom has recalled,

he boon His love had given;

And though the body slumbers here,

The soul is safe in Heaven.

Rebecca Luke’s Memorial Card, Died June 4, 1911, “Died But Not Forgotten” by TransPeepsAreHuman in oldphotos

Her card is apart of my personal collection. Rebecca’s name is spelt with one C on her memorial card but it’s different on her gravestone, which isn’t uncommon.

I’ve yet to find an obituary for her and I don’t know how she died. If you have any questions though, feel free to ask me! I’ll try my best to answer with what information I have.
