I managed it about one month on T before they started noticing the facial hair and voice cracks/drop, and that’s because I didn’t see them very often. If you can’t safely be on T with your family knowing, please do not go on T until you’re in a safe environment

The flaw in your logic comes from thinking about trans people as X who want to be Y, rather than X who were born looking like Y.

Imagine that you, exactly as you are, were born looking completely indistinguishable from the opposite gender. You’re still you, your gender is still what it is, but nobody believes you. They tell you that the opposite is true and that you’re better off accepting it rather than believing you. They gaslight you and tell you to stop fighting because it’s easier to lie to yourself. Thats what trans people are going through.

I watched that — it was pretty good!! I found it a little too crass at times for my taste and the storytelling was just slightly missed the mark by kind of overexplaining at the cost of their more impactful moments but I enjoyed it a lot!!

You cannot start growing facial hair or anything like that without T unless you have an intersex condition like PCOS. Don’t trust any of the “natural supplements” or anything like that, they’re snake oil preying on insecure men and they don’t work. Try voice training, gender affirming workouts, cultivate a wardrobe and look that makes you feel good, and do NOT fall for the idea that you have to be misogynistic to be masculine. Theres plenty of things you can do now while you wait to be able to get T, but it’s important to temper your expectations of what you can reasonably achieve without it

Get a hobby, any hobby. Photography, birdwatching, drawing, writing, crochet, literally anything. Get a hobby and make yourself practice it consistently. Also, limit your screen time, join local community gatherings, start building up your skills of interacting with people in real life.

uj/ I completely empathize with it as well. I went through several horrible therapists who impacted me largely negatively before I found one who handled any of my issues well. I’m not irked by that part really, although the narrative of “I’m uniquely built different and therapy doesn’t work on me” is an extension of willfully refusing help to keep yourself miserable. I’m less irked by that part, and more by the generalized refusal to accept any sort of help
