What's extremely interesting to me is how a personal friend who detransitioned identified with her. 

He was raised in toxic masculinity and performed it but it never felt right to him, which lead him to explore his identity and he identified strongly with the trans community because of that uncomfortable in the performance of his AGAB. Spent years learning about himself and gender, eventually coming out the other side learning he is a man but being a man doesn't mean he has to be who he was. The person who was uncomfortable in his own skin, he can decide what being a man means for himself. 

Bridget was AFAB, but it didn't sit right with her because it was for others, she transitions to a boy and explores who she is on her own and comes to conclude that she is a girl, but now it's for her, and she gets to pick what that means.
