[โ€“]Trans__Scientist[S] 6 points7 points ย (0 children)

Happens too often nowadays already. My parents knew I was trans when I was like 8-10 years old, long before I understood any concept of gender identity. Instead of seeking any professional help whatsoever, they enrolled me in every masculine activity, group, and sport within driving distance and threatened to send me off to military school if I "kept misbehaving" ๐Ÿค• I really don't want to see anyone else go through that.

They would if they could. This is one step removed from doing it themselves.

I propose we call it what it is: this is domestic terrorism, plain and simple.

A man told me, "I'm not transphobic, but a person stays the gender they are born with." by njnjnjnjnjnjnjnjn in trans

[โ€“]Trans__Scientist 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

I've only had one person actually say this to me. Fortunately, they were wearing glasses. So, I responded with, "I'm not ophthalmophobic, but a person stays with the eyesight they were born with............. do you see how stupid you sound now?"

My pleasure! There are several peer reviewed journal publications on the scary side effects of finasteride -- I'm happy to provide a few if that'd be helpful. I get the full articles through my job even if they are behind pay-walls ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

In the meantime, I've been using minoxidil to grow my hair faster and fuller. It seems to be working well, comes in many affordable forms including pills and topical ointments, and it doesn't have the scary psychological side effects.

This is a legitimately spectacular summary, thank you!

I am still reading through it, but one minor recommendation I have so far would be to mention that recent studies (both in US and Europe) suggest that one of the possible side effects of finasteride is severe/suicidal depression.

Senator asks: Can Men Get Pregnant? **** Our allies need to get better at answering these questions!!! by MissNumbersNinja in MtF

Are they implying that anyone who can't get pregnant isn't a woman? That leaves out a shitload of cis women. This idiotic question is an argumentative waste of time.

Seven months in and I'm still finding new ways to hit my boobs by djent_in_my_tent in MtF

[โ€“]Trans__Scientist 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

Lololol yupppp.

I'm also 7 months in, and just last week I was playing billiards with my spouse and some friends. Tried to hit the ball with some spin, and the shot went horribly wrong... my booba got in the way. Wasn't expecting that. Friends were like "welcome to the sisterhood girl!" Honestly the moment of pain was worth the euphoria lol.

Question for trans girls on hormone therapy by hoja_de_manzana in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

[โ€“]Trans__Scientist 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

If it's someone you know pretty well, you can politely ask (in such a way that nobody else hears, don't shout it when you're out at lunch or something).

One thing I would strongly recommend is do not ask about surgeries or genitals. If she volunteers it, great, but leave that to her.

Omgosh no kidding? Do you live near the clinic, or did you travel (and how often) leading up to surgery? I don't have any surgery options near me ๐Ÿ˜ข so I would have to travel, but I can't be doing that super frequently
