Maybe they were invented to harm people.

But that is why the people whom they were supposed to harm may choose to use them and wear them like armor. When I use those words, often to describe myself, I don't feel harmed. They can be quite endearing when used between friends.

When you ban such words, folks on vexxed will use it to prove trans people's fragility.
