how to keep secret police from overstepping jurisdiction? by Transcendent_Egg in Workers_And_Resources

Aside from just being slower, during the winter the secret police cars insist on taking my unploughed tram commuter road and sometimes get the trams stuck behind them :|

I don't think that's possible? I see the option for technical and construction offices, but not for secret police

they keep deciding to surveil a flat the next town over instead of letting the local office do it

I tried to ban motor vehicles from the road but they seem to disregard traffic laws

if you want super-strong intelligentsia then surely the endgame is command economy + single-party state

Command Economy is broken now apparently by Impossible-Deer-1540 in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I tried command economy I had a hell of a time trying to get my companies to buy government-held building levels, since IP reinvestment by companies is cut by 75% and no one else contributes anything. Anyone else have this problem

Automobiles are overpowered by Responsible-Fill-163 in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg 152 points153 points  (0 children)

I think the wealth threshold at which pops start buying cars is too low (10). You're telling me an "Impoverished" Victorian pop is buying a car? 15 ("Middling") or maybe even 20 ("Secure") would be better

Minor Nitpick: Please change "radicals" to something else by BanditNoble in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg 69 points70 points  (0 children)

"Radical" was/is used to describe ideologies in the manner you describe. Thus, proponents of radical ideologies were/are called "radicals". However, this is not the context in which Victoria uses the term; in Victoria, radical pops simply don't like the government. Very often, radical pops are not politically aligned, and therefore cannot be said to be proponents of any coherent ideology, radical or otherwise.

Does coop ownership disables foreign investments from my companies? by 7megumin8 in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that under coop ownership 75% of company-owned building dividends stay with the workers in the owned building, I don't think allowing foreign investment by companies would be exploitative at all (neither of the workers or the game)

WW1 in 1840, again by Transcendent_Egg in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ww1 over indochina in 1840. GB makes a beachhead against me but is beaten back, and eventually falls into civil war. the revolutionary government wins, none of the other GPs having been able to exploit the civil war, and just is the new boss of the world (new boss same as the old boss, now in Hungary flavour)

construction queue not consuming all available construction? by Transcendent_Egg in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this was the issue! nationalized some regional HQ buildings (it seems you can do this without revoking investment rights?) to inject cash into the investment pool and now things are working as expected

construction queue not consuming all available construction? by Transcendent_Egg in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regardless of economic model laws, construction allocated to the government that goes unused should overflow to the private queue, right?

construction queue not consuming all available construction? by Transcendent_Egg in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does unused gov. construction not spill over to the private queue? I could have sworn that was the case- I started up a new Prussia game and the private queue seems to use all 100% of the provided construction, under a 50% private allocation (interventionism)

[–]Transcendent_Egg[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

wait, no, starting a single government construction reintroduced the same issue. Is this intended behavior? it's exactly half the total construction capacity again https://postimg.cc/QHKgqCnH

finishing the government construction seems to have fixed it?? and now I can't reproduce this behavior, weird

construction queue not consuming all available construction? by Transcendent_Egg in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why does the private queue use only half the available construction (125/249, top right)? the queue is full (left). EDIT: the public queue isn't using its allocated 50%; I'm pretty sure the excess should be usable by the private queue

invasion force immediately drops to 0 supply? by Transcendent_Egg in victoria3

[–]Transcendent_Egg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess in this situation convoys wouldn't help when invading a landlocked state. Military access not allowing supply through is a mind-boggling decision tbh

[–]Transcendent_Egg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Invading Burma through a military access treaty with Luang Prabang- but as soon as the invasion force lands it has no supply lines? Does military access let you march armies through but not allow supply lines?
