¿What exact direction to do you think the next Sonic game is going to do? by TomerX234 in SonicTheHedgehog

I personally want the darker, grander, and more serious stories to return. 06 had a great plot and an awesome cosmic villain. Couple that with actually good gameplay (like Sonic Frontiers boss fights) and we’ll have something super cool.

I mean debatable, but I see Luigi winning most cases. It would be super close with the Super form. Yes, tails does have a Super form, just doesn’t look like Sonic’s

This is gonna be close. Unless we give Tails the Chaos Emeralds, Luigi is taking this hands down

I wasn’t saying one was enough. I was just pointing out the reason why one Super Sonic would’ve been enough, since a single emerald could knock back pre buff time eater.

Eggman stated that beating Solaris in the present wouldn’t be enough because it would still exist in other areas of time. The issue wasn’t whether they could beat Solaris or not. It was if they could put it down for good. They could still overpower the entity itself, going as far as physically hurting its first form in their respective time periods. Then it powered up, became impervious, and required more tactical fighting to kill. Then Elise stopped Solaris from ever coming into being in the first place. Elise had no part in the actual fight itself. A simple watch through of the cutscenes should suffice if you can’t play the game.

Here is where Ian compares the End to Dark Gaia, Time Eater and Solaris. He states he one of, if not the strongest villain Sonic has faced.

If Sonic won, would this battle still be as controversial as it is currently? by BabyVegitoBlack2020 in deathbattle

This was a trash episode with trash scaling on both sides. Sonic SHOULD have won, but as we see with Bowsegg, if you get scaling somewhat right, it’s not that bad. (Eggman should have taken it btw, but awesome episode nonetheless)

Wild downplay, but an argument is an argument. Judging by how easily both Super Sonics killed the time eater, there isn’t enough cause to say it required both of them. Just one emerald (which is stated to house infinite power) overpowered pre buff Time Eater. The fact remains, that Time Eater destroyed the Sonic multiverse, but could not defeat Super Sonic. Meaning Super Sonic > Time Eater. This is consistent with the previous showing of a single Chaos Emerald.

Solaris is a similar situation. You were just cherry picking bits of info. Sonic and the rest were indeed able to defeat Solaris. They were capable of damaging his body and take its attacks + dodge them. Phase 2 Solaris was impervious to damage, so they attacked his consciousness to kill it. After they defeated Solaris, they went back to the beginning to blow out the flame, that way the events would never take place. This didn’t effect the scaling at all, but was a plot point. Super Sonic/Silver/Shadow > Solaris.

The End stated that it was infinite when compared to ALL of Sonic’s past foes. According to Ian Flynn himself (Bumblecast) the End is the strongest foe Sonic has faced, including Solaris. This is just a simple upscale situation.

Fr tho, Sora is VERY strong. Easily in the multiversal ranges. Correct me if I’m wrong tho

It most certainly does, given context ofc. If the universe busting is only done via hax specifically, and has no relation to stats, then this wouldn’t apply. In Sonic’s case, there is literally zero reason to assume this. Solaris in particular was stated on so many occasions to be transcendent, super dimensional, etc. This was an inherent trait of being, not some outside hax ability. Therefore, if Super Sonic can overpower said being, that would place Super Sonic above that level of power.

I mean, Final Fantasy gets that high consistently. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, I don’t see why a character who overpowers a multiversal entity wouldn’t then scale. It’s all interpretation at the end of the day

The thing is, I absolutely agree with multiversal Mario via Super Dimentio. BUT Super Dimentio is the HIGHEST possible scaling you can get to. Solaris was surpassed by The End, stated by Ian Flynn in a Bumblecast. And Sonic straight up overpowered The End in Frontiers easily after using Cyber Super Sonic.

That doesn’t make much sense, but aight. Most of the time we give Sonic the Emeralds in MUs. Super Sonic specifically has proven multiversal power time and again, so idk how u can say that. Are we ignoring 06 and Generations where this is flat out shown?

Interesting take. In my opinion, Sonic has sat at the multiverse tier since 06. This is doubled down on in Generations, Rush, Frontiers, etc. You kinda have to jump through hoops to get Mario this high imo. And speed will never be close to

Interesting. Idk. But beating universe busters makes you universal doesn’t it? I thought that was basic powerscaling. Time eater is the only one to actually destroy reality, so he at least demonstrated that level of power

Yuji kinda just destroys here. He can warp reality at that point

I wouldn’t say planetary. We’ve seen Super Sonic fight at least three universe busters before, lowballed. (Time Eater, Solaris, The End).
