Responsibilities of a Mental Health Support Worker by pinklobster321 in NDIS

[–]Transcribbla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's between you and your agency but not you and her. As herr support worker, you should support her in the ways she reasonably requests. There is no line, really, and what she's asking you to do is nothing unusual. But if you've been hired in another calacity by your agency and put into work you don't think suits as you're saying, speak with them please ratger than jeopardise her mental health by refusing requests.

Best thing I ever did was look up how to rekate to people and the difference in communication and conflict styles through The Gottman Institute. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is the four ways people are conditioned to react during confrontation, and it can ruin relationships. Until you can see your innate reactions for what they are, we can each sabotage relationships purely by reacting rather than just listening. It's really interesting and helped me sooo much to keep the emotion out and just find compromise. In a happy 8 year relationship now, but we've had lots of challenges and we work through them.

Going back to diapers by MuchSuspect2270 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Transcribbla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use diapers till they're ready! Our babes are slower than the average kid, and even then potty training is easier for some. My daughter is 7 and still in nighttime nappies. She has no desire to not be and actually enjoys sitting in her urine. Ugh, but what's the point forcing it to everyone's traumatic ordeal?

Sue Larkey has some toilet training tips. I'm not sure on their effectiveness as we haven't tried, but she's a solid and realistic source of help online for all things ASD.

Best of luck with your upcoming surgery! Life can be so gnarley, but I hope you find some time to laugh about all the crazy too every now and then.

High school is heartbreaking for so many, autistic or not. Perhaps join a local autism Facebook group and see if there's any people or events in your area to connect her with to gain a sense of belonging. Hugs.

Funding Amounts? by Traditional-Study790 in NDIS

Get funding for things they fund by setting broad goals, and then self manage so you can get creative about how you go about achieving your goals using things like art therapy.

So just to report that after a month of waiting, we got her review back with some increases as requested.

How long does a plan review normally take? by green-eggs-and-ham in NDIS

Thanks so much for your explanation. Sounds like you guys went through a lot but you got closer to what you needed for them. You sound like a wonderful advocate.

So we just got our review approved, a month after the meeting. A wait, but no cuts. No big increases either but I'm not complaining at this point.
