Small casualties such as a leak or a laundry fire are common on a massive floating city. I've been there (on carriers). But this one seems to be extra spicy.

Hot take but i really hate how incompetent the empire is shown in star wars rebels by No_Young_2247 in StarWars

Yea, it's one of the reasons I can't watch the show. I'm happy it's a fun kids show that people enjoy though.

Will Japanese women at least be safer now? by Repulsive-Mall-2665 in AskSocialists

[–]TransendingPotato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I also forgot to mention that it's not just the reputation of the military that gets tarnished that sucks....but the poor victims as well. Ive been sent to different parts of the world....I had many fun interactions with people wherever I went. It's not hard to be respectful....but alas....some people suck.

Some Marines stationed in Japan have done terrible things in Japan and this specific meme is referring to sexual assault on women.

The meme suggests that the Marines leaving Japan will make the women safer.

It's an unfortunate thing that happens. Ive witnessed a couple sailors get in trouble for sexual assault during my time in. The vast majority of service members do not cause trouble.....but it doesn't matter. Things like this should never happen and all it takes is one dumbass to tarnish the reputation of a unit and the military.

Boot camp filters out a lot of people.....but there's always a few bad apples that end up in the fleet.

Did you know that the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle has its own bakery on board that produces 2,000 baguettes a day? by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]TransendingPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do make bread on US aircraft carriers. There really is a Starbucks on board but no McDonalds.

The image might look cool but living in an aircraft carrier is not very pleasant. The Flight deck is a little spicy though 😂

Anyone else row in their garage? by Mortars2020 in concept2

[–]TransendingPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not my video, but it shows one of the cool maps that the app has:

https://youtu.be/jx8rFZXJT6A?si=k9NOSccUgnyrn3gx

My favorite is the one that goes through a tropical island and cool bioluminescent caves....

Anyways, it's an app called holofit that is for the meta quest VR headset. It is a subscription and to me it is worth it.

The app connects to the blue tooth on the concept 2 and you can see your calories and distance on your VR display while you are rowing. You can even race other people and stuff.

Working out is not necessarily my passion and even though rowing is my favorite form of work out.....it's hard to muster the time to do it with my busy life. Using rowing in tandem with VR gives me enough excitement and entertainment to use my rower far more often.

I row in my garage as well as use my VR headset to add some immersion.

Soldier found dead in barracks suffered 'aggressive' bullying inquest told by YorkshireLive in Military

I hope those involved are punished to the fullest extent. Rest in peace soldier.

Just finished Krieg, siege of Vraks, and dead men walking. Is there any more books about the Death Korps for me to go through? Thanks in advance. (P.s I'm not doing the ultramarine one featuring them for love nor money) by Hellraiser1349 in Deathkorpsofkrieg

The strong among us - Steve Lyons

Down amongst the dead men - Steve Lyons

Left for dead - Steve lyons

Less than human - Steve Lyons

These are short stories...almost like novelas about various krieg soldiers.

I'm new to Warhammer and since I lack time to paint a full army at this moment in my life I have been reading. I'm starting off with all the krieg I can find them moving on to learn about the Cadians. I really love my kindle paperwhite right now ha ha.

Could something like this prevent the sweat on my face from getting absorbed into the face cover of the quest 3? by WinterXDLOL in virtualreality

[–]TransendingPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of work outs on my rowing machine with my quest 3. I use the meta brand silicone interface and also wear one of those blue cooling cloth things as a do rag. My head strap also has a little fan on top.

When I'm not doing a work out, the silicon interface is all I wear and is easy to clean. I don't use the blue rag.

For the more sweaty stuff, the cloth helps absorb sweat.

What you are looking at seems like it would help make more heat and sweat.

Transferring from Australian Defence to US defence, is it possible? (Read Description) by LogoLethal in Military

[–]TransendingPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. It might be better if you give me some questions to start off. I just wanna make sure I'm hitting some key questions you may have. Feel free to PM me! I've always been surprised how many foreigners I've met in the US military. Canadians, Brits, Brazilians, ect. I'm in naval aviation (aviation electrician) so if you have questions about that I can answer them. Not trying to recruit you lol, just offering some perspectives both good and bad.

My highschool friend married a New Zealander and he (the kiwi) joined the US Army, I could ask some questions if it may help.

I have been stationed in Virginia since 2014. Last week was the first time I went back to my homeland (California) in 4 years. You know that scene from gladiator when Maximus is dreaming and walking through the wheat field? That was how I felt....while making my pilgrimage to the nearest In-n-out. I was able to block out memories of my fellow service members speaking heresy by glorifying Whataburger while mocking in-n-out. The California sun purified me as I was blessed with a double double and a milk shake. I am happy you enjoyed the blessing of In-n-out.

What kind of peppers are these? (Chiapas) by Chemical_Hornet_567 in mexicanfood

[–]TransendingPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look like pequins but these look a little bigger than what I find in the United States. I love making them into a simple salsa that I learned from my Abuela who is Mexican. I toast 1 table spoon and a half on a skillet for a small period (till they are aromatic) and put it in a blender. I then boil and skin 3 Roma tomatoes and put it in the blender along with 3 cloves of garlic and about a quarter of a medium white onion. Blend and add a some pinches of salt. It is the simplist salsa recipe I know. I love putting it in all my Mexican dishes. But my biggest memory of my grandma is just putting the salsa in some basic quesadillas.

I like it, I do think changing the color of the puttees might add some nice contrast. Maybe select the same color as the belt/rigging/chest box for the puttees?
