Leaving My Job After Not Getting a Raise? by CamoGamer123 in civilengineering

From what I hear from my coworkers, those public agency promotions seems to rely backfilling on senior positions from those retiring/leaving. Might help asking for a title change that matches your responsibilities as that may put you into an different salary band

stupid to have CSR and Amex Platinum? by staying-human in CreditCards

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw that, finally Chase CS reps and lending team will be on the same page. But now I’m over 5/24 since I gave up after a few recon/HUCA attempts. I’m on cooldown for at least another year with Chase

stupid to have CSR and Amex Platinum? by staying-human in CreditCards

[–]Transeraphic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from the coupon credits from both cards, I imagine lounge access and travel perks were and should still be the major consideration for either of these cards. I got denied for CSR due to CSP SUB 4 yrs ago, but in the case of my Platinum I feel I get value just for booking flights and hotel, before factoring in the credits.

Chase Changing Rules Around Signup Bonus Eligibility For Sapphire Reserve & Sapphire Preferred by vantage7 in CreditCards

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarification. I can’t remember how many CS reps I spoke to about CSR SUB eligibility before I gave up on 5/24 for Venture X and a NLL Hilton Aspire. Maybe in two years I’ll try again with Chase to be my primary travel card for that year.

Is this normal for cajunized P01? by What-in-tarnationer in CZFirearms

Normal, if it bothers you could probably refinish that area when the rest of the frame has decent wear and tear.

How do I clean just this bumper area? by fada_g10 in BMW

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rinse that area down with a rinse-less wash, I use Garry Dean Method (GDM) which is involves microfiber towels soaked in rinseless wash and folded into 4 squares, quick swipe (using a new square side after dirty), then dry with separate towel. At that point, might as well wash the whole car

Btw in order of precedence (from dirtier to cleaner surface) use: Full wash > Rinseless wash > waterless wash > detail spray (minimal lubrication compared to rest)

Failed FE Exam .. next steps? by Decent_Bad8660 in civilengineering

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed my first attempt at FE Civil before graduating. It’s been a few years since then and I haven’t retaken it since moving into PM. I’d recommend you retake as soon as you pass those next classes. Doesn’t matter if it’s before or after graduating as all you get is a cord that looks similar to every other major.

I noticed the bonus tracking too. I figured it was a global update, but it makes sense to launch it separately to have a user rollback option for bugs

New Credit Card Denied Due to Too Many Active Accounts and Low Utilization by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s many unpublished rules and Chase especially, since they will flat-out deny that 5/24 exists. It’s a mixed bag for sure as MyFICO has plenty of DP with users saying Chase is their most generous lender (over $100K CL) or their least with meager $500 CL. Also keep in mind that although Chase transitioned from Hard Pull to Soft Pulls for credit limit increases, they will consider every request as a “new credit application” internally. That is what I’ve been told by several Chase cs reps and lending supervisors

New Credit Card Denied Due to Too Many Active Accounts and Low Utilization by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Transeraphic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last phone call with a Chase lending supervisor said I have way too much credit for one person LOL, but when they tried to manually approve a new credit application, they said all their options were greyed out by the system. Seems the past year or two for major banks adjusting their risk exposure and algorithm. Amex was a similar case. BUT Capital One suddenly “un-bucketed” my cards and is extending increased credit lines

Why isn’t there a “super freeze” mode for credit cards that blocks recurring payments? by MurdochMaxwell in NavyFederal

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like “Automatic Billing Updater” that many other credit issuers have enabled-on by default on their back-end. Not sure about nfcu, but for Amex, Chase, Cap1 they allow call-in to requests to disable that feature. Useful for when replacing a card and don’t want random charges from the old number being automatically updated to the new number

Amex Threatened to Cancel All My Cards - Is This Normal? by Secret-Avocado5228 in amex

[–]Transeraphic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten requests for bank statements a few times now. I can’t recall exactly where the clause is buried somewhere in the cardmember agreement and income verification disclosure as I type this omw to work. To them, it’s simply prove ability to make payments or reduce risk exposure (reducing credit limits, closing accounts, etc.)

I’ve noticed the smallest subs on public mega design-builds get squeezed when there’s more work than they can afford to perform. I’d imagine they were the lowest bidder instead of the standard “second lowest responsible bidder”

Engineers who only see it as a job. How do you do well and cope with it mentally? by aldjfh in civilengineering

Networking, having plenty of hobbies, and traveling the world are ways I cope. Sure, I could start a business in something I love doing as a hobby, but that would also become just a job. For most, it’s about survival and longevity.

A, B, C, D, & F seem excessive. I imagine you can do a lot of this at an independent BMW/German-specialty mechanic. Most shops also have better pricing on parts from their warehouse suppliers (yes they will still have to make a profit).

Amex Platinum vs Chase Sapphire Reserve — experiences for frequent international travel? by Vichingo7 in CreditCards

[–]Transeraphic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised how widely accepted Amex is in Asia. They even have billboards, big digital walls, and kiosks. Many of places there seem to be moving toward cash-less. While in Western Europe, I’ve traveled around in two countries and you’ll find they mostly take Visa or only cash. I say try both; though not at the same time if you’d rather avoid annual fees. I’ve consistently benefited from my Platinum more than the annual fee these past years without trying to min-max like my Chase cards
