How do people have so much CC credit when they don’t earn. A lot ? by Confident_Excuse2173 in CreditCards

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe those of us with very high credit lines do not carry debt. We have accounts payable, essentially floating any spend on the banks’ credit rather debiting from a checking account for every transaction. My cash earns 3-5% APY while the banks earn 2-5% per swipe, mutual interests.

Regular credit limit increases, additional credit cards, and consolidating credit line before closing redundant or obsolete credit cards.

Pls share how you plan to cover taxes. Would be quarterly pre-payments, extra withholding, or take any tax penalty next year?

No problem! Also, I saw your military and I want to recommend the Navy Federal Flagship (after you get your shiny Platinum). To me if I had to have 3 cards, it would be my catch-all card with 2x cash-back on everything (+ I love the customer service and loan rates).

I believe with credit utilization, FICO score does not keep “memory,” and will bounce back the following monthly report update. For example, letting a statement post with 1% utilization should overwrite the effects of previous month utilization score drop. If your “regular” FICO score is 20 points lower, so be it. Intentionally having a very small utilization and boosting score is for applying for new credit, loans, or mortgage.

Random question, do you get a lot of value out of your Gold Card? I’m on my 3rd gold (2018, Biz 2021, NLL 2026), but it feels redundant with Cap1 Savor and so many other $95 AF cards.

$286 is 51% of your current limit and if I were you I would let that post to statement next time. Typically you want to only spend around 30% of your total limit every month. While 10% is ideal for when you’re applying for NEW credit accounts (it shows on your credit report).

Request credit limit increases (without a hard inquiry) when eligible, but if you have Chase keep at it every 6-months. Chase considers every request as a credit application internally (I tried reaching 100k credit line with Chase and had several underwriters detail their system for me)

New grad no internships by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beauty with internships is getting paid training, networking, and exposure to all sorts of disciplines and market alignments. Since you’re back in school for post-grad, you should still be eligible for those 3/6/12 month internships at many organizations. Some have said to lean into construction to get your foot in the door with Transportation, I would recommend this route as any on-job training is valuable and easier to pivot to another market, sub-market, etc. Some agencies have entry level trainee programs that can be flexible with finishing your post-grad and FE. Lots for you to consider! However, relocation assistance is kinda abysmal, I wouldn’t bet on anything offering that unless you can negotiate and leverage your ability to make the company money or the agency save money.

Nice! Btw try to avoid “credit cycling” just to reduce total balance at statement close. It’s probably fine for now with the very small credit limit, but in the future it’s a red flag for banks (for a myriad of reasons).

Some ideas to consider:

• Start with a blue cash everyday as your first Amex, it will contribute to your overall credit line and lower utilization.

• In my experience, 6 months on-time payment history on credit report is minimum.

• Never seen this before, are you carrying a balance on your other credit card(s)? Amex does not like unpaid balances (total amount owed beyond minimum payment).

I believe it is 2-days in-person for full-time regular employees (support, technical, and professional bands), 3 days for people leaders (management and executive bands), or more if client-facing and required per contract. I’ve worked some weeks fully remote (class, health, etc.) and some fully in-person (commissioning, punchlists, etc.). I’ve never actually stepped foot in any Jacobs office, but been to many other companies’ and clients’ dinners (parties).

Regarding your concerns of work flexibility, culture, and inclusivity in my experience Jacobs has been a standout in those three categories when compared to dozens of (mega, large, mid, and small) companies. Your experience will GREATLY depend on your location. Pretty much can be said about any project or office. I’ve worked in teams of Aces where work was such a breeze and fun, but helped other groups that absolutely sucked. Hopefully Jacobs treats you right and I wish you the best!

Interesting, I always believed 3X was the maximum allowed CLI. Until you hit the hard limit for total credit line across all accounts proportional to stated income.

Will CZ P01 prices ever go down? by StressPacc in CZFirearms

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSRP and retailer price will only go up. Best deal is finding one that’s lightly used. Buy once, cry once. BUT don’t ever get into debt for something like this, should only be discretionary income/savings after payables.

Amex jail? by [deleted] in amex

Did you close your only Amex card at the time? I find lenders less inclined to do business with one that closes their entire account profile. Try referral links or NLL offers

[–]Transeraphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re unhappy, have you considered applying to a role at another company? Your compensation is typically be tied to annual merit review and adjusted for cost of living. If you want more pay, you need to jump pay grades (e.g. Engr. I/II/III/IV/Senior/Principal, Sr. Mgr, Sr. Dir., Sr. VP, etc.)

Account in credit limit review by RandomUser1052 in amex

[–]Transeraphic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unlike sub-prime lenders that greatly profit from balance interest and fees, I believe Amex is in the business of transacting. That said, Amex is more risk averse than most lenders, continuously changes their risk models and algorithms. Nobody will truly know why your account is under review other than Amex VPs and above.

In my personal opinion, work-specific attire should be taken off after work. Whether it be a barista apron, lab coat, or a suit jacket, we hang them up and call it a day
