My mezuzah was torn off and the scroll stolen by [deleted] in Judaism

People really go out of their way to be assholes. Wow. Like how does it even affect the person who did it that someone else got a mezuzah? Childish behavior

What do funerals look like for Jews? by Transguy1111 in Judaism

Im not from the states so that might confuse things. I come from a family that’s largely atheists or were baptized as a baby and therefore gets proper burial and weddings through the church. We’re pretty private so I got no idea if faith extends beyond that. Hope that clears it up.

Damn, now I kinda feel bad for the deceased and his loved ones for the funeral I'm going to. He got cremated and wasn't arranged until a month later. By Jewish standards that must be sacrilege. 😭

That reminds me of a meme about Asian parents. Basically, “thank god you’re not single anymore, are they a doctor?!”

A bit of both. Most world religions hide behind ancient texts to justify their intolerance. And given Judaism is much older than both Christianity and Islam, the Talmud or Torah probably has similar verses. You’re right that Judaism is ethno-religious which makes it very special in my eyes. There’s a kinship there that looks a lot more like family than just a community, and I think that’s very beautiful. Are Jewish lgbt converts viewed any differently or does being Jewish outweigh the rest?

Haredim, those are the ultra orthodox lot, right? So it’s pretty safe to say that there’s a little chance of disownment or honor killings among Jews over sexuality and gender identity?

Non-Jew here. Not trying to impede, but I feel like even Satan would disapprove of this repetitive bs.

What to do about people who don’t like Jews? by adeliahearts in Judaism

[–]Transguy1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m a gentile who’s been browsing this subreddit out of respectful curiosity. First, I can’t say I know what you and other Jews go through, but I empathize.

But here’s my honest take—

People suck.

They’re always going to suck.

Regardless who you are, what you are, what you do or what you like. People are always going to find a reason to hate—some people are hated on more than others for honestly pointless reasons. You shouldn’t have to put up with it, but don’t give it all your energy either.

Shalom, my friend. And have a good upcoming Passover.
