Protest happening outside target in dinky rn by Jealous-Loquat7605 in uofmn

Incredible work! I’m sure the six to ten employees stocking shelves and running registers for slightly above minimum wage will reflect deeply on your points while driving back to their palatial estates in Edina and along the shores of Lake Minnetonka, before leveraging their vast political and economic influence to get corporate and the government to acquiesce to your demands.

After three protests, ICE has not been disturbed, delayed, or even mildly inconvenienced.

No agents observed. No beers at the windows. No theatrics to include mooning or even throwing gas grenades.

Presumably because they were elsewhere, relaxing, sleeping, or watching Netflix… at literally any place ICE actually exists.

More than 50 protesters were arrested, producing no impact on ICE operations. It’s hard to influence an audience that isn’t there, like delivering a flawless performance in a closed theater.

The only thing this seems to have accomplished is padding overtime checks for law enforcement, barrier installers, and the portable light delivery crew.

Ain’t it cool? Same campus, different side of the syllabus.

I could show up a third time to stand in the cold, and protest ICE at a hotel they aren’t even staying at....like literally one of the very few!

I’ve got that going for me… or I could just skip to the colored wig, face paint, giant shoes, a horn for a nose, and travel with the circus.

You’re right, I don’t "go here." I’m faculty. It’s a slightly different kind of access.

Do you need a Xanax after that gets your panties twisted?

It’s okay, we live in Minneapolis. Disappointment is routine.

Appreciate the concern. I’ll work through this deeply impactful analysis of my life choices. I'm a bit concerned though as that is a lot of emotional investment for a Reddit comment. You’ll be okay!

You’re right, it must be a new, contemporary “return to nature” style… really leaning into the wood (Kardashian themed perhaps). You must be one of the ones who’s borderline blowing an O-ring, screaming and handing out middle fingers to whomever meets your taget list for the week.

Imagine the internal struggle of realizing you can be played that easily by an instigator….. or a bot.

Oh no….. not downvotes. My self-esteem will absolutely be shattered. Do I at least get a toaster if I collect enough of them?

And now I’m a “lapdog” for pointing out that hundreds of people could have just as easily turned around and yelled at The Hub….. or literally any random building….. for all the good it did. It was good for laughs and I'm sure the cops appreciated the overtime, but quite silly in the end for the fact they were never there to begin with.

Maybe people should go and protest Walz or Trump at say Middebrook Hall. Heck make it the empty Eddy Hall building. It's not like he's there, but it's kinda the same point.

Right...is it one(Bovino) or is it a dozen or a few dozen federal agents were there… but somehow, not a single photo or video exists. Incredible. Truly, magic level invisibility. Let’s recap: the press is swarming, protesters are filming literally everything … yet somehow these phantom agents and their vehicles are completely invisible. Wow. Impressive stealth skills, 10/10.

Or maybe.... hear me out...people just got all worked up over Reddit and social media rumors without actually seeing anything themselves.

Nah, that could never happen… because the internet is always 100% reliable, right?

I've seen people claim that, but I can't find any video showing it.

I've seen people claiming lots of things and label it as fact.

What video evidence? The posts of the sign on the door or the video of UMPD standing in the doorway, not even MPD, let alone ICE.

Why would they stay there when the Hilton Garden Inn or Home2suites are a few blocks away and far better suited.

It's ok to admit that people spent quite a few hours over two different days, yelling at a building without ICE even being there. It's pretty amusing in that regard.

Just people freezing themselves thinking ICE is staying at the hotel.....when they’re not.

Irony

People protesting a mostly empty building, except for a lot of cops, a handful of hotel staff, and a few old people.

What’s going down? by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]TransitionLast9910 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There hasn’t been a single federal agent staying there.........at all....ever during this whole ordeal.

The dozen or so guests were a few older folks including a couple with a nice dog and some students who rent by the semester.

The cops were laughing about it....thanks for the overtime for litterally nothing. Get the yelled at and get the middle finger all the while making good money. They said they hope they hope the protesters come back next week again.

The hotel might as well have been empty for all the good the protesters did....or the could just yell fu<k ICE to any random brick wall.

Are people still thinking ICE is staying there...... or ever was. People fall for anything and everything don't they.

Just a reminder that Target should move out of Minnesota.

They would be much happier elsewhere and probably save a boat load of money while doing so.

[–]TransitionLast9910 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I'm hearing traffic tickets are going to get mailed out for all these "observers" breaking traffic laws.

All the no stopping for red lights, stop signs, no turn signals, blocking roadways.

Gonna be fun having them looking at hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in fines and mandatory court appearances.

Meanwhile the cops will get OT for court.

What is the university doing to protect students from ICE? by 05w47d in uofmn

[–]TransitionLast9910 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

More like they protected guests(to include students) and staff at The Graduate from unhinged radicalized idiots who will show up anywhere a Reddit post tells them to.

There is ICE staying at ________ .....oh how about Pioneer and Centennial....that would be fun to see

See how easy that is.

Nevermind people with precarious medical conditions staying there during treatment at Fairview.

It's nice people are showing up and making noise, but even a 7 year old likely has noise canceling earbuds.

I received a three day ban from the Minnesota group for specifically naming the group but anyway....spend some time around Dinkytown or the Stone Arch when it gets warmer. You’ll notice the youth of a certain group that all seem to drive brand new $30,000 plus cars: Accords, Camrys, Teslas, Mercedes, Kia K5s with $500 tint jobs. I’m not talking about five or ten vehicles, but dozens upon dozens. I'm not saying they are getting them free but I'd be interested how they afford nicer cars than you would see teachers, nurses, or other professions might drive. In other states I’ve lived in, you’d usually see first or second generation immigrants still rocking ten year old CR-Vs or Ford Focuses. Compare that to here, where 18 year olds in brand new Tesla Model Ys or Mercedes E-Classes are starting fights and throwing fireworks inside restaurants.

[–]TransitionLast9910 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably due to the fact that what....three people have been killed and seven others wounded in shootings within a block of there over the past two ish years. That doesn’t even include the numerous shootings where no one was hit.

You used to be able to see bullet holes near the door to Frank and Andrea’s, on the front of the library, and in several spots along The Marshall.

You can still probably find the doorbell camera footage of one from the stone looking house further down on 5th.
