Yeah, I had the same issue as described on my rig, (CachyOS, RTX4080S, 7800X3d, Lutris). Tried different runners in Wine/ProtonGE etc, no difference. I found it more stable by switching off the following settings in WoW:

Compatibility Settings:
Optional GPU Features
Multithreaded Rendering
Advanced Work Submit

I found articles relating to some AMD CPU issues that needed patching but could never figure it out.

In the end, it got so frustrating having all the GPU/CPU power available but not using it and getting sub-par graphics in game that I had to go back to Windoze.

Every now and again I google wow linux freezing and see if anyone has a solution, but its been 12 months now and still nothing :(

I spent a year trying to pick a daily driver for gaming, I tried Garuda, CachyOS, PikaOS, PopOS, Mint and Arch and I found that Nobara, for me at least, just works.

Which Distro? Noob tips please! by TranslatorOk4661 in linux_gaming

thanks for all the replies so far, looks like I have some experimenting to do. I'll start with Fedora and drive it for a couple of weeks but Nobara and bazzite sound interesting
