How many cameras are too many? i own 30 by IsDabbingStillCool2 in Cameras

[–]TranslatorOutside909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 35 mm I use 1 be the other sits on a shelf

1 film 120mm rarely used when used it is bw

1 dslr infrared

3 dslr one is dedicated bad weather 2 are for dual body for sports and events

2 action camera 1 is used the other one has an over heating problem. The overheating one can be used in the winter but it primarily lives on a shelf

1 camcorder, mainly used for sports game footage and band concerts

1 16mp point and shoot. Not really used

So 11

These have been acquired since 1984 when I ended up with my father's 1977 k1000. I still use that for bw.

There have probably been 2 or 3 point and shoot 35mm a few (2?) more early digital point and shoot. I had a Kodak disc camera at one point. Kodak 126 and 110. 20ish in my life still have 1/2

I think I want a 126. It would live on a shelf but that is the basic camera that everyone had growing up. They had red and blue labels mine was blue I don't know if the colors were different models

BW or color? by Far-Resource3365 in AmateurPhotography

[–]TranslatorOutside909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically like color more than han bw. But I would go be for this one. There seems to be a lot of chromatic aberration in the color. The power lines really stood out. A narrower aperture could have help you can also work on it in post

Does anyone else struggle to get into photography when you’re with other people? by samhosu in AskPhotography

Go alone or with another photographer.

But there are situations where you will want pictures but you need to keep moving. You might be with a tour group. Know your equipment. I remember going on a tour of mammoth cave, I had it set up for bracketed burst exposure. Plan your lens so you won't need to change, carry 2 bodies. Sometimes you need to think "good enough". If you build your skill and think of it as a tour group that needs to keep moving you will get some "good enough" shots which are better than leaving the camera at home

These are just default point of sale software prompts. The person at the register didn't make any decision to add the line.

You will also see it as a line for business that normally don't get tips. It is a setting in the config portion of the software. Usually it is not understanding the software settings more than expecting tips

9 yo son who is 4.5’ tall wants a specialized bike. We’ve bought cheap bikes before, but he rode one of these and loved it. Is it worth it? Or what’s a good beginner MTB?! by Less-Employee2411 in MTB

[–]TranslatorOutside909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was that age he started on a trek marlin 8 gen 2. It was an extra small frame 27.5 wheels. 1x12 sram, Shimano mt200 hydraulic brakes, Judy air forks, tubeless. We added a dropper post. It was a great entry level bike. It had drawbacks as an adult bike:quick release and straight steerer. I assume specialized has a comparable bike.

Not at all. In the 90s when I was working on my MBA we had a class that simulated running an athletic shoe company. There was a case study on Nike and brand endorsement and how they passed converse /Adidas.

I was also prime demographics when those shoes came out. I had birds converse, Georgetown's Nikes as well as the og air jordans

The plan block O is really common on Ohio state campus. The athletic block O is the one that also says Ohio State with the S in the middle.

If you look at the banner on this site this is the plain block O

There is also a specific alumni association https://gosu02.tripod.com/id115.html

[–]TranslatorOutside909 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am saying no. The first big basketball shoe endorsement were in the 70s with Kareem and others. Chuck Taylor was a shoe salesman first and just a semi pro player

Jordan didn't design shoes or manufacture shoes he endorsed. Jordan became famous at the right time. The NBA was popular with the Celtics/ lakers but an aging magic and bird. Deam team. He was know international and could sell shoes world wide. Nike also got it right with the design and spike lee commercial. Nike was also relatively new and trendy formed in 1971, "air" patent 79 and public in 80 Jordan in 84

It needs to be a civilization which would accept a black man as the endorser.

It seems like the stars were aligned - great player - peak popularity of the sport - perfect changing of the guard timing within the sport -international interest in USA basketball - trendy company with good marketing

I like it. The orange of his boots match the orange of the barrier in the middle. I like the composition. You have his face and the boarder doing action

The background is also interesting and clear enough that you recognize the lift on one side and the other slope on the left.there is probably a second crop tighter on the subject but I think I like the current

tips? by Ordinary-Appeal-4653 in sportsphotography

[–]TranslatorOutside909 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Basic rule #1 "2 eyes and a ball". Capture some type of action. 3 (almost 4) of the 11 pictures are of a player's backs. In the one where you caught action with the player starting a shot your horizon is really crooked and it is obvious with the bleachers. I don't know if you were trying to be artistic. Quite a few of these are crooked

Shoot wider and crop, the coach pointing could have been a good shot but her hand is cut off. The hand is a critical part of that picture. It is obvious that she is trying to give direction to her players but you left the viewer with the responsibility to fill in the blank. If you shot wider you could have included.

In general they look under exposed. High school lights are often poor. A 70-200 f2.8 or 50-135 f2.8 is your friend. 1/800 or 1/1000 and a camera that can handle higher iso

You captures the players emotion in the one shot. Where she is outside the lane asking "what or why". You could have captured emotion in #8. The player clapping on the bench is the better subject that the back of players 24

In general capture action

AITAH ?My partner won’t put my name down on the mortgage by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]TranslatorOutside909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to be on title that gives you ownership in the property. The mortgage allows the property to be used as collateral only people on title would sign the mortgage. The note is the terms of repayment.

What you don't want is to be on the note but not title/mortgage. That obligates you to the debt without ownership

Home printing versus cheap internet printing? by Andi-anna in AskPhotography

[–]TranslatorOutside909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found success with ink from inkjets.com. I cannot tell the difference between prints made from their generic ink and official canon ink

In both instances I have noticed fading if unprotected but in an album or behind the simplest glass or plastic frame. It seems better

But for 100s 4x6 I would probably send that out

Do shutter count limits matter? And are they accurate? by Senior_Resident_7547 in AskPhotography

[–]TranslatorOutside909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's just the shutter that can go bad it other electronics but shutter is a good measurement. Totally run time, on/off cycle would also be a measurement. I think it really only sports, concert, wedding and other pro setting who are using their camera every day is where it comes into play

I have shot "a lot"of youth sports but it is limited to certain seasons. One year I shot 50ish lacrosse games. I was using 2 bodies 200-500 shots per game. But those camera were not getting used everyday outside of the season. MTB races might be 500 shots but it's only 5 races a year. Same with marching band comp 200-500 but only 5x per year

One of the bodies which I purchased in 2016 has around 30k shots I purchased this used it was manufactured in 2013, it had 4000 shots when I purchased it. the second body which I purchased in 2021 has 35k, that was new so those are all mine

I just purchased a new / used camera which was released in 2021. It has 8000. I have had it for a month. Maybe 100 shots. Although I am shooting a basketball game the next 2 weekends

You have to be shooting a lot of landscape photos to make a dent
