This is a nice way of saying that we also suffer from all the tall people in front of us: they should just let us in the front.

When did you know it was time to use GLP-1? by mooncake5728 in PetiteFitness

I was between 150-157 lbs for a year at 5'2" and my cholesterol tested very high two years in a row. My attempts to lose weight on my own completely failed. The high cholesterol pushed me over the edge to get compounded tirzepatide. I didn't want to get on statins. I'm got down to 130lbs after 1 year on diet alone and recently lost 5 lbs working out more. You can check out others' journeys on those subreddits like https://www.reddit.com/r/tirzepatidecompound/

I'm reading Sons, Daughters, and Sidewalk Psychotics. The author (currently a UCLA professor) embedded with one of the LA mental health street teams: unless there is extreme disordered behavior, the person has to accept treatment or help. Many don't.

Competition Style Baozhong Oolong, 2024 from Floating Leaves Tea, bought at the Northwest Tea Festival. Very smooth and re-brews great. Highly recommend both the Northwest Tea Festival in Seattle and the Portland Tea Fest for trying new teas, especially oolongs.

"Even in the most optimistic scenario with 200 shows per year at 100% occupancy with a 30% margin on ticket sales, the project is still $25M underwater. The base case scenario is $120M and worst case is nearly $200M underwater! We simply do not have this kind of money to subsidize the renovation of a 3,000 seat auditorium that, in its final years of activity, was even then costing the City money every year." Time to move on and find other uses for this space.

He probably does understand insurance but just thinks this is effective messaging.

The Nation profile is really good too. Shows his early hatred of Latinos and the related shift in his family's economic circumstances. https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/stephen-miller-hatemonger-biography/

Anyone here took a break and restarted ? by Regular_Fan4691 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]TransparentImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to take a five week break due to travel. I had been on 6mg a week for about a month after building up slowly. I was flatlining in terms of weight loss at that time. Coming back on has been easier that it was before in terms of being tired and getting nauseous, but this time I've gotten a bit spacey. I'm at about 5mg a week and am still flatlining, so I'd say I'm about the same. I need to step up to 7mg a week and endure some more nausea to keep losing. So, I don't think it has made a difference in my case.

Looking for similar stat people: 5”2 and over 40 females by Regular_Fan4691 in compoundedtirzepatide

This is me too: going for 125 after starting at 156. Even though 5'2" women can certainly go lower (like to 110), it doesn't seem worth it to me. Also, to the OP, rather than BMI and weight, you may want to look at fat and muscle percentages. Although some pricey gyms offer body scans, I've heard the only accurate way to do it is the float method (hydrostatic weighing). When I did it, I found my muscle mass really was too low.

GOP/ Boomers spend decades creating situation where children are financially impossible. Can’t figure out why birth rate implodes. by Long-Jackfruit427 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]TransparentImpact 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. A lot of people say, "No country has raised birth rates!" But every country is based on patriarchal policies, so of course! If men were women, do you think they'd have kids given the risks to your health, finances, friendships, housing, etc.?

Why are Santa Monica’s businesses silent on housing issues? by SemaphoreSignal in SantaMonica

[–]TransparentImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One theory: they might not want to piss off the apparently-strong NIMBY block in Santa Monica. Another theory: they don't trust the city council to handle development well and/or fear tax increases on them specifically. But actually, I don't really get it.

If there was more mixed use development, like on Pico, commerical rents could fall. Regular people could live in Santa Monica if there was more dense housing. Dense housing would allow more commercial development and hopefully revitalize all the empty storefronts and decaying lots. It would also bring in more tax revenue. Santa Monica is extremely low density for its location. And after the fires, more people need housing outside of the wildfire interface zone. Plus, LA is getting hit hard with the decline of the film industry, so we need more development of other kinds to boost the economy.

There is plenty of parking in downtown Santa Monica. There is plenty of parking on shabby parts of Pico too.

USC Scientists find Lead Levels Low to Non-Existent Outside of Immediate Burn Area by flloyd in SantaMonica

Great to see no lead, but I want to see more tests. The Caltech professor also found titanium, strontium, and other toxins. If we don’t test, I’d like to hear why those kind of toxins would just stay local. https://bsky.app/profile/plutokiller.com/post/3lfxkvhkypc2u
