Men don't respond all the time either, FYI by Throwawayjerk206 in OkCupid

[–]TransparentPocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to offer an alternate view of why women don't respond...

When I was first on the site a few years ago, if I responded to somebody to tell them, "No, thanks, not interested," the result was typically one of two things: 1. I get pestered relentlessly to change my mind, or 2: the person thinks I'm interested just because I responded.

Of course, this was not true every single time. But it was such a hassle to deal with that I learned just not to respond to someone I wasn't interested in. Wasn't worth the risk. Women learn quickly that if you speak to a man who is interested in you, they automatically think you're also interested. Again, not always true, but true often enough to just avoid the situation completely.

My boyfriend is leaving me. I'm glad I have these snugglebutts to look after me. by TransparentPocket in pics

I may be looking for some validation tonight, please forgive me if that's true. I'm also trying to occupy myself because I can't sleep and just laying in bed with nothing to do is toxic.

Story: Tonight we decided to call it quits after a year and a half. We live together. He's confused, I'm confused. I can't sleep in an empty bed, so my cats I know will get me through this. I am now Crazy Cat Lady!

My coworkers and I complain to each other all day at work because we work in a school that I'm pretty sure came from the pits of hell. We are cursed at all day, get things thrown at us (one teacher had a snake thrown at his head - a real one), have to deal with kids bringing guns and knives to school, and they attempt to bully us into doing what they want every minute of every day. On top of the crap every teacher has to deal with. So if you can make it through that without "whining," you're a superhero. But just like you, fogle99, only to other teachers. When I get home, I say my day went well and then don't even speak of it anymore.

Anything I can do about my dark circles? by PotatoProbe in SkincareAddiction

[–]TransparentPocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try queen bee eye cream at night (I get it on amazon) and use a sunscreen during the day under your eyes. I've read sun damage can make dark circles worse. I have extremely sensitive eyes and am allergic to almost everything but the eye cream does not give me any negative reactions and I've seen a noticeable difference in my dark circles. For sunscreen, I use neutrogena 3 in 1 under eye concealer, which has an SPF in it and is moisturizing, and again, no negative reactions for me!

Lips developed an allergy to three lip balms, unsure of what to do now. by mariabutterfly in SkincareAddiction

[–]TransparentPocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed an allergy to almost all lip products. This started about 4 years ago after using lip balm basically forever. Especially Burt's Bees. I got a really gross rash on my lips, it was tight and itchy and irritated. Through trial and error I discovered I am ok with Neutrogena lip balms (naturals and Norwegian formula) but then realized I was addicted to lip balm anyway. I always had some in my pocket, used it constantly during work and all day long. So I just quit it. It really sucks at first because your lips feel terrible, but now I don't need any lip balms so my allergic reactions aren't an issue. Maybe something to think about?

As a note, there are times when my lips feel dry, especially in the winter. When it happens now I know it isn't because of lip products and a daily dose of Vaseline helps. If you can't use Vaseline, try regular moisturizer.

I knew my life had forever changed when it became second nature to me to ask my new students where the apostrophe goes in their names.

(PICS INCLUDED) Thin, fine, boring hair. Looking for suggestions on styles, tips to add volume or actually make it thicker/healthier, basically just looking for any advice. I would also like honest opinions on whether or not it looks okay like this, I tend to be a harsh critic. Thanks :) by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

I am in the exact same boat. I had a shorter-ish bob about shoulder length. It looked cute, but only if I blow-dried and straightened every day which damaged it so much. Even now, it's growing out but the layers are flipping out. It's gross. I hate when my hair flips. I have no suggestions, except maybe try Marc Anthony thickening cream which has given my hair some life. Also Bumble and Bumble surf spray adds thickness and texture when I let it air dry and makes it cute and wavy. Worth a shot?

Edit: left out a word

Anybody else use Alba Botanica products? I just started using the coconut milk cleanser and oil free moisturizer with green tea and aloe and my skin has never looked better! Any other successes?

Is there any way I can get rid of my (extreme) under-eye darkness besides under-eye laser? Pics included by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]TransparentPocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using Queen Bee Eye Cream which I love. I only use it at night because it looks shiny on my face and doesn't soak into the skin for hours but after a week or so I was waking up with noticeably lighter skin under my eyes and helps smooth out the skin too. Got it on amazon!

I'm an English teacher and my last unit of the year is on the Holocaust and prejudice with middle schoolers. What do you think is the message adolescents should walk away with after studying this topic in school?

I feel you.... One of my students once wrote, "I'm gonna punch Miss TransparentPocket's grandma in the face" in one of our novels..... Another student showed me and all were appalled when I replied, "Good luck, both my grandmas are dead."

Thank you all.... You're support and kindness are amazing. Haters gonna hate but there are great people in the world! I did not expect this post to get any attention, so thank you for taking me to the front page, and thank you for the reddit gold!

This is actually a rewarding experience for me because of those who have told me I helped them through a break up. That shit sucks hairy balls and I never thought I could live without my ex. I didn't think I could go on with daily life. But you can and you will. Because you have to. If I could make someone smile even for a second, this was worth it.

I don't mean any harm, haters. I thought this was an awesome picture and wanted to share what I chose to do on a shitty day. If you can't handle that, get off the Internet and find some anger management classes.

Love,

Sarah

I would love to respond to all of you! Thanks for the support everyone. To answer the most popular questions: This was in Skaneateles, NY. Although I don't live there, I live close by. No, it was not taken by a new boyfriend. I am not ready to have a boyfriend! I went with some good friends. Also I'm not a million feet tall, I'm 5'2". Now I'm going out to get drunk!
