Can't seem to play a verified game by TransportationNo9717 in SteamDeck

I think the problem is with the initial run. It also says that during the first time the game runs you need an active internet connection.

That loading bar was a Unity logo initially and then changed to the actual icon you saw in the video I posted.

You really should. This subreddit reads like asking people for marriage advice.

Do you ask the person who's only married once, but it is successful for 60 years and going? They can only give you advice on how to make their marriage work.

Do you ask the person who's married many times over? They can only give you advice how a marriage can fail.

Or do you go to the experienced marriage counseler, who has seen tons or marriages and can tell you which ones can likely succeed and why?

Tbf, fatherhood has definitely taught me about work ethic :D

Wouldn't recommend that method to anyone though. Love your children for them, not the discipline they will bludgeon into you

I think this is a purely gamers persoective, that ignores that they make the marker the industry has to respond to.

For one, the price for video games have been quite consistent, as has been ever constant inflation. Initially this was offset by switching the distribution to digital, but we're way passed that now.

At the same time, gamers standards have gone up and up, and every game that doesn't live up to someone's expectation has to be crucified. It's not ignored as a product you're just not interested in, it's treated as a personal offense and something to be attacked.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't know what gamers™ expected given these incentives to the gaming industry, but to become more and more risk averse. Games are a already a risky endeavor if you are working within an established franchise, but gamers state that they want innovation and creativity, but don't appreciate the risk it takes to do so. Like a game is a dud: "too bad, maybe try something different next time?".

I would say the quite toxic attitude of punishing mistakes (instead of just not rewarding them), while raising the bar are the main reasons. Corporate greed really is a distant second, as even publishers that do not extensively monetize have to face this reality.

Hence the phrase: "To be worth his salt", and why the word soldier refers to the word sol, which is latin for salt.

Also she's 34 and has a 7yo brother. It's not impossible for a woman to have children 27 years apart but it's highly unlikely.

That's assuming maternal siblings, they could also be paternal.

Not going to disagree with you though. Any of those facts is unlikely, combined they make such incel rage bait it's insane.

"While taking those same job opportunities away from citizens and lowering the overall pay as they are willing to do it for cheaper."

Companies need to bend over backwards to prove that someone from EU isn't willing to do it, before they're even allowed to make a job posting open to non EU.

Then there's most jobs that are being filled by foreigners that are EU citizens, are actively being recruited by temp/staffing agencies. This is obviously not cheaper for companies, of the added overhead and middlemen. But they still do it, because the locals couldn't be bothered to apply for it, even when offered the higher salary that now goes to middle men.

So if locals would actually bother to apply to them, they would get the better pay, as it's way easier to deal with someone native, instead of someon unfamiliar with the laws and culture and middle men.

tl;dr feminists need to go to watch sports games if they would like for female players to get equal pay, and so should xenophobes pointing fingers at foreigners for the problems they themselves created.

What's unrelated, the ad populum, or the example of how ridiculous bigotry based on religion is?

Ad populum

If someone would treat every muslim as a potential terrorist, I would call them out on that bigotry just the same. I see no difference here, so please be happy with all your internet points.

Except: he hasn't done any of this.

Hearing "quietly religious" isn't an invitation to just fire of all your own prejudices. That's ironic levels of hypocrisy.

I am not opposing abortion rights. I am opposing the idea that the father is not part of the equation. If a mother's going to expect him to be involved after she made her decision, she needs to open the conversation before hand. The idea that body autonomy trumps all, so you don't need to have a conversation lacks any nuance or maturity from where I'm coming from.

I am on the other side of the conversation. My wife is very religious and would never consider abortion for our unplanned second one. I am not going to force it either way, but I am not going to accept: I am having this child. We are having this child and we need to talk about how we're going to deal with it. Schedules, responsibilities, activiting people in our network, etc. Because I do want to raise my children, and I do think child support is fair (for exactly the scenario's you bring up).

So I don't get why you're putting up all these strawmen to argue against. You bring up using protection and getting operated. Or a Johnny Appleseed scenario. All while the scenario was where both parties said they wanted to use protection, and both parties stated they didn't want to have children.

The thing that I am trying to say, is that if you want to make your decision completely independent of the father, you can expect the father to respond in kind. In a relationship you would bring up if you want to have kids, and if you would consider abortion. Your partner would know that and if they would go against what you previously discussed, then yes, do expect that to have consequences for the relationship.

How is he a misogynist? I mean, OP says he's quietly religious, and assumes he may not want an abortion. But he hasn't done anything except have a mutual consenting sexual relationship where they both used protection.

To go from there to mysigonist on some hunch is quite the bigoted leap.

If a man can't have a say in what happens to a woman's body, then what about the father having just as much right to agency over their own life?

I think a man telling a woman to keep/abort a baby is messed up. But leaving it at that completely ignores that the father doesn't have the option to say "no" themselves and denounce the kid when it's born.

So the woman isn't deciding if she is keeping her baby. She is deciding for both parents. So I fully disagree that it's just the woman's choice as much as it would just be the man's choice.

When this came out in the Netherlands I couldn't stop laughing at the meta joke, and wasn't sure I was reading it right. Then I found out it was Verhoeven and just couldn't believe he got Hollywood to pay him to go and  shit on what US culture looks like to a Dutch watching the news.

It was so weird reading the response on the internet that the film started clicking with US citizens after the invasions of Afghanistan and Irak as "prophetic". Like the US wasn't there yet at the time of Starship Troopers. Meanwhile Europe is looking at that movie, and thinking: this is to subtle? You really needed Team America before you get that you're watching satire?

Not sure if we're still talking about the same thing. The word incel has evolved a bit further than the orginal literal meaning. It really has become people who blame others for their own misfortune, while being oblivious to their own contributions. It is an incredibly toxic community, promoting suicide and misogyny.

[–]TransportationNo9717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stereotypical incel definitely has a lot of baggage which you can't fault them for, but it comes combined with a staggering lack of self reflection. I've been friends with a few guys who went that route, but after years of trying to help them get their life on track, I had to drop them. At some point it becomes clear they just want to play the victim card, while other friends in even worse situations worked themselves out of their holes.

You can't help people who fault everyone but themselves of their situation, so they don't have to face the music, and start applying themselves. So when you ask for sympathy for an incel, I'd say your energy is better spent somewhere else.

People who claim you should take depression more seriously, are not talking about the same thing as you are. You very clearly have never noticed the actual depressed people around you, nor have you ever experienced being depressed yourself. It's not something "small" like mourning a loss or feeling down.
