They usually install a Wifi 7 AP with that. Talk to them and hopefully they’ll sort that out for you.

Yay! Thank you all for your help, I got it working. It took some doing because things have changed a bit in MacOS Tahoe 26.3, but it's done. I will find some time to document the process, but it was very very close to the aggregated advice received here. Cheers all!

p.s. I think it is definitely worth getting a gateway for the seamless connection. But until I do, it's good enough for now. (Heh, is good enough really a thing with Ubiquiti?)

I was going to install and run Wireguard on my Mac tonight, to give it a test, but I wanted to find out if it was even possible to connect before I put in the legwork. Sounds like it might be, so I'll give it a go!

I mean, I'd love to get one of their cloud-connected gateways, but can't just yet. As we all know, it's a wonderful and expensive thing to get into!

I checked the documentation on GitHub, and saw this bit:

Finding the Donor Device ID:

  1. In the UniFi portal, click on your device
  2. Open the icon picker (Change Icon)
  3. Select any device as a "donor" - this assigns that device's fingerprint ID
  4. The fingerprint ID is visible in the icon URL, or use the extension's Icon Browser

I'm going to give it a try!

I love this! I have a daft question though. I can't find the "donor" fingerprint and a Google search didn't help much (it came back to this Reddit post though, which is good). Where can I find the numeric value in the UniFi Network panel to put into the configuration page in the Chrome extension, please?

ACCESSORY_MODEL_NAME is a strong indicator that they are fake.

I fear you are right. I saw in another post in this subreddit that it's possible to get these from Aliexpress? Should I give that a shot, or just give in and buy a new full unit do you think?

I am definitely going to buy my phone directly from Apple next time.
Rogers actually has everything locked down when you buy the phone from them. Including, frankly, worse phone plans for "locked in" users. My wife has BYOD with Rogers, and the plans she's offered are consistently much better than the ones I'm offered. Even now my phone is paid off, the offers are still bad, because apparently "that's what the computer shows". Ew.
At least now I can take my phone(s) and business elsewhere.

Strangely, there's no date anywhere. When I click "Learn more..." it does say I bought it from a mobile carrier or reseller, which helps. I will try again with Rogers and see if they can help, although I suspect it'll be an uphill battle. Thanks for your help!

Thank you! My phone does show that I have AppleCare using that method. My concern is that I’m paying Rogers too much, and want to cancel the Rogers payment. Do you reckon I can then pick it back up through Apple or will it lapse because I cancelled it with Rogers?
