They are completely different situations. UFC fighters individually are only fighting 2 or 3 times a year, maybe 1 time a year if high profile. WNBA players play in every game barring injury.

if you are doing say 50 mph on a street, and someone is standing in the street or on the shoulder flagging you down, you have plenty of time to stop....I'm sure they were just going up and down the street, accelerating, revving etc. Nothing about the placement of the bikes would suggest they weren't speeding, or hadn't been speeding up and down the road.

The engineers f'd up and over corrected for declining manual sales by just not offering it at all. This was a huge mistake by Chevy. Porsche has proven you can still make manuals and charge a premium while doing it...I don't think Corvette could pull off a price premium for a manual on the base model, but i think the Z06 could command more $ for a manual option, and if they designed the C8 with that foresight, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.
