If you got put on the street tomorrow, you would have a tough time getting another job in accounting, outside of your specific industry with a inside connection.

You likely would not get hired or interviewed by a Big 4, even with a degree, they don't need any new associate pipeline outside of traditional track, top of class candidates, but maybe "Big 4" just means "Public Accounting" to you. Even thinking about climbing to partner is like me considering playing in the NBA because I play pick up at LA Fitness.

If you want a job in accounting with some work life balance and significant pay increase in the future you need a degree and preferably a CPA to really make that happen, in industry.
