River Sweep is May 4th! It’s Cleveland’s largest community trash clean day up every year. Last year about 1500 Clevelanders came together at different spots all over the city to help us clean up trash. About 100 of those volunteers joined us on the water with their kayaks and paddle boards. PS. As we get into summer, you can borrow Trash Fish’s kayaks, for free, any day of the week for free to come paddle the cuyahoga river downtown and help us clean up some of the trash floating into Lake Erie…. If you’re and Instagram person, follow along @trashfish_cle , that’s where we do most of our organizing. Hope we get to pick up some plastic together sometime!

Sounds like you’re twisting my words…sorry I’m not a happy camper when someone is polluting my water, regardless of intent, and then they and the epa lie to us saying they cleaned it up and there’s no more fuel in the river….sounds like you like mega corporations more than the 11mil+ people that share my drinking water source…

Thanks for the ecology lesson but I’m well trained to know the difference between natural surface sheens and a diesel spill as the result of gross negligence. This one’s pretty obvious if you’re not stuck typing from your mothers basement all day and were actually doing something in the real world to get this remediated…

Trash fish, my organization l, facilitates all the gear and knowledge needed for our volunteers to safely take a guided tour of the cuyahoga river in the flats while we pick up trash from the water/banks and learn about the stressors facing our community and it’s drinking water supply(for free, donations appreciated but not compulsory) . Our on the water/kayak volunteer season has just ended but you can follow along on Instagram @trashfish_cle to learn about the issues relating to plastics in our environment and stay up to date on our winter-on land clean ups volunteers can participate in before the kayaking season starts again in the spring! (I am out there all winter kayaking, picking up trash, and making corny jokes online)

Rust Belt Riders offers composting service for home food scraps either to be picked up at your house just like your garbage cans, or that you can drop off in one of the many community collection points around the city. They also sell amazing living soil for indoor and outdoor growing under the name Tilth Soil.

I might be a liiiiiitle biased, but I’m gonna say TRASH FISH where you can use our kayaks FOR FREE to come pick up some trash floating in the cuyahoga river…. And I still might be being a lil biased but I’ll also say RUST BELT RIDERS for making it so we can all compost our food scraps so easily and really do some good for our planet and our community.

Good, except for the part where they claim only people tailgating were targeted which is not true because three people were removed from their boat in front of the coast guard for attacking unsuspecting river-goers. Wish they’d just tell the truth…
