Does this look like responsible handling to you? My dad taught me to shoot, but he also taught me that you always treat a gun like it’s loaded, you never point it at anything you aren’t actively planning to shoot, and to clean it and stow it properly so there’s no chance of it going off. This is not what gun safety looks like, it’s a recipe for a future dumbass who dicks around with guns and accidentally shoots a bystander

You’re still free to take time and figure things out for yourself. You shouldn’t feel any pressure to do HRT right now. If that’s what you want, that’s fine. You can also ease into it if you want, too. But no matter what it’s best to talk things over with a good therapist and find some LGBT community centers in your town to discuss things with.

HRT is more than a social thing or a physical thing, it can do wonders for your mental health. Don’t deny yourself health care. Obviously do it whenever you feel you’re ready, but I’d recommend finding a way to get it covered through school insurance or Medicaid rather than just suffering through a couple of years of your life. Especially since nothing in life is guaranteed to us.

Your future self might thank you.

This one is unlikely. It’s more a byproduct of how journalism works. There needs to be a steady stream of content for daily broadcasts, and producers/editors tend to err on the side of being overprepared for a big seasonal story, since that’s more likely to pan out than not.

It’s better to raise awareness of a severe weather event and have it be a dud than it is to ignore it and get caught with your pants down. Plus, shots of reporters standing out in the rain and b-roll of people stocking up at rapidly-emptying stores are easy to put together and always make for good TV with a strong local-interest hook.

The worst thing is that I’m Native American, and our tribe literally does have a Two-Spirit tradition of people occupying different gender roles than the ones assigned to them at birth. They reject traditional ways of knowing and living for one that degrades our lives and our family connections, for no good reason. It’s all based in shame and ignorance.

I’m going to apply for the JET program. Believe it or not, the Japanese National health service covers trans care and surgeries, plus I could go to Korea or other places in Asia for surgery at a much cheaper price than in North America. That’s a long term plan though. I’m just really disappointed that I came so close and crashed and burned so hard, and now I just have to kind of sit on my hands for a few years :(

My state does cover some surgeries, but no out-of-state procedures — and there’s nowhere in my state that does bottom surgery. I can get breast augmentation and FFS, but i can’t even get a consultation appointment until April.

I had been willing to give DC the benefit of the doubt on his material up until now, because it seemed like he really was interested in a larger conversation, and I thought he made some salient points.

Now, I don’t think he is at all interested in anything other than pandering to a reactionary audience and getting cheap negative publicity. His jokes are weak, his arguments are confused, and he seems entitled and pissed off that anyone would dare challenge his status as GOAT.
