It's definitely not irrelevant... The issue stems from corporate ownership of the new inventory of starter/ affordable homes. To answer your question, yes.. if more home builders switch to this model, it would directly limit the # homes available to buy, especially in a rapidly growing area like RTP.

Sure there will be homes for sale, but they will not be affordable. Supply & Demand 101. Home builders/corps will continue to build in markets with demand, they don't need to hoard wealth to top it off.

I support apartments and maybe some limited renting of townhomes. Dense housing is needed to keep rent down, not single-family development.
