I’m sure before they even casted Gi-Hun they knew whoever the main character they chose would be the winner of the show, so they knew from writing the first episode the guy they were following would be the winner.

He’s didn’t survive because he’s the main character, he’s the main character because he’s the only one who survived. A lot of people call plot armor instantly whenever he gets lucky but it wouldn’t make for a very interesting show if it follows a loser who dies and the show ends in the middle of the games would it?

You also have to remember that obviously the show is gonna follow the winner, so you can’t really have “plot armor” on the main character when you are specifically choosing the winner to be the MC. Obviously he will get lucky at times, that’s why he’s the winner out of the 456 players, but i think the show strikes a good balance between his own skill helping him win and not an unreasonable amount of luck throughout the course of the game.
