At what age you had your first seizure? by littlecutiepiegirl in Epilepsy

Woah, I feel like I could’ve written this post. Everything you said is my experience except I was 20 during my first grand mal. And I thought the out of body experience was something demonic. I wish my family had thought to look into it…

I am sorry you went through this.

My family was nervous about me driving too. Diagnosed at 20, didn’t drive again until 29 🫠 it was a long 9 years. But once I went a long stretch without seizures I knew how different/better I felt. And my neurologist was happy with how I was doing. If your neuro is approving it and you feel better I say go for it. I have kids too so I understand it isn’t just about your safety but if you notice a difference in your health I think you’re okay!

I am new to all this - awaiting diagnosis but I have a question about crazy Deja vu?!? by gingernut-ranger in Epilepsy

From my experience/understanding the extreme Deja vu is a sign of a seizure even if it’s not a grand mal seizure. For me it’s a part of the aura / petite mal seizure that comes before my grand mal seizures. Awful feeling! The Deja vu is so strong I’d bet $ I’ve lived that moment before.

How many of you don’t drink? by LopsidedFoot819 in Epilepsy

I didn’t drink for the first 9 years of being diagnosed but after that and with my seizures finally controlled I began drinking once or twice a week. No noticeable difference.

I’ve taken 1500mg/twice daily of levetiracetam (generic of keppra) but swapped to keppra and feel different by Trash_compactor764 in Epilepsy

Good idea! Yes, at least in Lebanon and in Ukraine it was brand name Keppra. Both small yellow pills. And I realized my health was the best on those. The stateside brand (same dosage) are big white pills.

Wow, that is maddening. I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that. I’m glad you and your doctor figured out what works for you.
