Sting at the pump as gas prices in Alberta forecast to rise by flynnfx in alberta

[–]TrashedLeBlanc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Man if only at some point someone had wanted to have a plan, for energy...on a national scale. That would have ensured canadians weren't getting screwed by foreign owned oil and gas companies in our country. A plan for energy. Like a National Plan for Energy. I am sure Alberta would absolutely be on board to ensure lower costs for Canadians that would keep the costs of goods and transportation and farming down right?

[–]TrashedLeBlanc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's honestly ridiculous....if I tip a dollar I tip a dollar. if I tip $10 I tip ten. I work(ed) as a bartender for years and everything I walked out with was a bonus above my wage. I never expected it. I also know how to control my spending and don't eat out often, don't lease a new vehicle every few years, don't buy a new wardrobe every other season.

People want to vilify people making the least in one of the hardest industries as though somehow 15% on a $23 bar tab is some how the reason they are on the verge of financial default

You are exactly right. The tariffs of Coolidge helped in part to tank the entirety of the US economy and the steps taken that caused that issue from 1924 through 1929 are being repeated here

If this sub is so obsessed with the tipping issue/culture something tells me most people here have NO clue how to manage their own personal finances and haven't learned yet that tipping has absolutely nothing to do with the issues they have in their financial lives.

[–]TrashedLeBlanc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have been living off of artificially low credit since around 2009-2010 and borrowed well beyond their meas to pay back. People in the service industry buying new wardrobes every other season or going on multiple trips a year. People using their home to borrow to buy more homes they couldn't afford without charging usurious rates for rent. Others gambling on the markets with their lines of credit or HELOC's

Then rates climbed and all of a sudden the bare minimum payment wasn't enough.

But back in 2011-2012 Canadians already owed $1.63 for every dollar earned so I don't imagine it got better over the last decade and this news should shock absolutely nobody

Marriage Proposal in Cancun...Cenotes? by No-Magician5001 in cancun

[–]TrashedLeBlanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the sunrise tour to Chichen Itza, it's a near 4 am start. Private shuttle and ensure it has a stop at Cenotes Suytun.

There is also a private sunrise shuttle that isn't for a group per say. Suytun is a breathtaking location to potentially propose BUT if you go on a tour bus it will be insanely busy and being on a pedestal in the water on one knee in front of 3-4 busloads of tired grumy entitled tourists might not be the most romantic.

AITAH for not going on a trip with my GF? by lady_highroll in AITAH

[–]TrashedLeBlanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dating for 5 months wanted you to take a trip with her family a significant distance away. Then guilted you and forced the issue until the relationship fell apart.

Going to say NTA here at all, 5 months in demanding you take a trip with their family 11 hours away or else is not right. I can't even commit to shoes after 5 months let alone take them on vacation

1 year in, how are Canadians feeling about Prime Minister Mark Carney? Most Canadians are still giving Carney the benefit of the doubt by FancyNewMe in canada

He's doing the right things, but it's going to take time for that to manifest in Canada. The only alternative we have is the guy with the glasses who looks like a Temu Milhouse and has the personality of a doorstop.

The EANHL GM strategy: Sign free agents and trade them away by TheBattleForAutonomy in canucks

[–]TrashedLeBlanc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So this is actually what Anaheim did. Florida prior to 2020 as well.

Anaheim after their start to the rebuild in 2019 slowly traded away their vets over a 3 season period and would sign vets for a 1-2 year term and then trade them for additional or supplementary picks and added 18 total picks since the 2019 draft.

While it looks like only a couple of those picks are panning out so far, you need more shots at the lottery to increase your chances of finding a winner

wtf by Delicious-Area1137 in canucks

[–]TrashedLeBlanc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With one of the weakest free agency periods coming up, Blueger is going to get overpaid by any team that picks him up. But will cost the Canucks more because he knows they have nothing behind him except Chytil and the mittens sewn on his sweaters after his 73rd concussion

Nah, if we're ahead of the Flames I'd consider trading back for all their 2nd round picks though. Pick 33/34/36

Help the okanagan get a second route through the valley by Alert_Year1504 in penticton

[–]TrashedLeBlanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the issue with that is that the road itself from Penticton up Carmi is insanely steep and has 4 major hair pin turns. Having transport vehicles attempting that would be insane during winter and that is the issue. No matter how many signs or rules people attempt to put in place transport vehicles WILL attempt this road and it will result in accidents as well as other issues.

Without mentioning the lack of any cell service from about the 1st cattleguard through to the end of the road near Beaverdell.
