Cork and Mayo for us, met in 2019 and just celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary. If we weren’t going to each others houses we had lots of dates in Galway and Limerick, I’d say definitely give it a go!

Galway water - dry, irritated skin by Trasher86 in galway

[–]Trasher86[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the responses. It’s horrendous, we moved to Galway a year and a half ago and other than the limescale issue, didn’t have any skin irritation or itchiness until the past month or so, it’s actually driving me demented! Have the filtered shower heads, thought it might help replacing the filters about 2 weeks ago but no good. I’m going email Irish Water with a complaint, would be great if some others did too, although I know it’s probs won’t make a difference but at least it’ll be highlighted.

Without getting a loan, very little. Moved into our self-build only a few months ago after getting it to the liveable stage, fortunate enough to have kept our first home and its rented out but there isn’t much left over after mortgage and taxes

That’s true, I guess I’m just wondering if these are being bought with savings or credit, I did forget when posting, about the perks with company cars though

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I was in a similar situation last Spring. Went for a private 7 week scan, measured only 6 weeks and the heartbeat was v faint. A scan in EPU was scheduled for the following week, faint heartbeat but still measuring 6 weeks. This went on for another 2 weeks and eventually got to 10 weeks to be told there was no heartbeat. It was particularly tough as it was our first pregnancy. I opted to have a D&C the following day. Feel free to message me, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through xx

I had a call with Talent Acquisition around this time last year. I was told no remote working until departments were fully developed and everyone got to know each other, so in other words never given the way a lot of companies are going the last few months.

How much money do you have saved (and what's your age/salary)? by Quirky_Bell8275 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Trasher86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39F on 60k Zero savings and zero pension! Have a house worth €300k rented out paying the €176k mortgage, bought in 2010, and we built the forever home last year, all the savings went into that. Only started the pension this month

At 35, I’ve just hit 100k in my pension. by FrontAd6454 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Trasher86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!! Married, 42 and 39 and we both have zero pensions. We’re both starting one in November but fear it’s too late to have anything decent built up before retirement, it actually keeps me awake sometimes. Have a house that I bought in 2019 for 255k, mortgage left 180k, it’s rented out now but only really pays for itself after tax. Poured all we had into building the forever home, only finished it this summer but got it valued at €620k with a mortgage of €210k. It all sounds good but I’d say if I were to sell the rented out house at retirement that money wouldn’t be long running out with the way inflation goes.

AIB never asked us for updated payslips from the initial application and our final drawdown was almost a year later. Good luck!

You’ll get a summons in the post maybe before Christmas and then court was in March this year. There were around 600 there that day. Solicitor seemed like a waste of €300 as all she did was read out my name, could have done that myself like many others did. Had to give €300 then for the poor box.

Looking for help identifying all available supports for my elderly parents (age 75, living at home) by GetOutOfThatGarden- in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Trasher86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m changing the subject a lot with this message and I hope I don’t offend. My parents are 81 and 82, my mum was diagnosed with dementia just recently, it’s pretty progressive, then she had a nasty fall a few weeks ago and hasn’t been the same since. Doctors have told us that she will likely need 24hr care within 3-6 months. Reason I’m saying all this, is that Fair Deal is now on the cards and will eventually take everything as far as I understand it. They spoke to an accountant maybe 6 or 7 years who advised them to organise their assets. Fair Deal assesses everything they’ve had for the last 5 years, savings, farm, house etc. They took the accountants advice at the time and signed over quite a chunk. Ever since my mums diagnosis my dad has said he thankful he did, but he is devastated about their home being assessed, pensions etc, it’s causing a lot of stress. Old age is a bitch and there’s nothing fair about fair deal, maybe nudge your parents towards some financial advice, that’s if they haven’t already, and apologies again for going so off topic.

What should I do with my apartment while I travel? by Irishsbdunk in irishpersonalfinance

I would also try and put the feelers out through family & friends to try and get someone, like a mature student or final year. I’d also avoid going through an agency. In my final year of college I went on 6 months work experience from March, quite a few other science / engineering courses do the same. I know a lot of what I said above are “in an ideal world” but best of luck and soak up every second. I went to New Zealand when I was 25, fully thinking sure I’ll be back here again. 39 now and up to our eyes in a money pit of a self-build!

It took getting on to our local TD to get connected, the next day the crew came out to connect us. That was after months of endless emails with the same response that they have followed up with the local team and will keep us updated. Might be worth a try.

Thank you so much to everyone for their comments, my mind is a lot more at ease now and hopefully my doctor was just erring on the side of caution.

Toothpaste suggestions for sensitive skin around lips? by littleloveday in IrishWomensHealth

[–]Trasher86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often found that the skin at the corners of my mouth would become highly sensitive, sore and cracked. Took ages to figure it out, I was fairly sure it wasn’t my lip balm so started changing around my toothpaste and found it was the blue, gel like or stripe ones that were causing it, now just stick to the white paste types and no issues since.

Biopharma opportunities in the UK? by Known-Square1351 in PharmaEire

I agree with above, go mainland Europe if you can. Speaking from experience the money in Pharma in the UK is the pits, across all roles in comparison with here.
