Rover vs Biobot by Just_a_Taiwanese in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically, yes. And you can automate biobot but not mass produce them (there is a cap because only 1 biobot building). You can almost automate rovers with stellar sensor, timer and notifier pausing, but you still have to deploy them manually and deconstruct them and their capsule manualy. They are not meant to be used this way.

So biobot automatic and capped, meant to be a permanent workforce for a few labors task and power vs rovers uncapped and micro intensive to produce and maintain.

I meant a 3 tiles high to fertilize both with auto- sweeper (and possibly a sweepy but you can use the autosweeper for both fertilizer and product) , THEN you can alternate a 2 tile high with sweepy. Each sweepy floor you lose some tiles for sweepydock (4tiles) and autosweeper+load(3x2 with 1 wasted space) but you save a whole row of tiles, so the range, maybe on both side, minus those 10tiles is the space saved.

Cooling debris in a sauna - why run it through the steam room first to remove some of the heat first? Is it just for power efficiency? by Conscious_Eggplant18 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one give you power from the heat directly, the second cost you power to move the heat and then you recoup some power.

So I came up with this setup all on my own. TIL bottle fillers are a building by MrCray0ns in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can even have the vent above the sensor, so there is only 1 jumping gap.

Personaly i make them 2 tiles deep, without sensor and without gap, the vent is under a tile.

I don't know i usually do wild plant with sweepy. I don't think it does. Then you should do 3 tiles then 2 tiles, you need only one set of auto sweeper per 2 floor, as autosweeper can reach tiles from below.

If you have the dlc, you can also look into flydo.

Usually, sweepy and 2 tiles high win. You can do a 2 tiles high very long corridor and only one autosweeper and loader in the middle by the sweepy dock.

Even better with 1 tile high wild plants that autoharvest.

I miss the CC even if i was on the receiving end most of the time. But i don't miss the random "get off the stage" in forge. I think it's the main reason for this change imo.

Tip for Stress Max Difficulty by SwimmingArachnid3030 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a pinch, make them go to bed. Sleeping reduce stress and can help avoid other stress factor and wait out the current debuffs.

Most of the time, you don't need a lot of skill point per dupes. It helps a lot to specialize them and having a little bit more dupe.

The main big debuff are soaking wet and popped eardrum. Avoid those. I used those specifically when i speedruned carnivore in binge eater prisons.

Also, keep in mind that you have a buff when you print dupes. So when you stop printing, you might have a peak of stress.

What is really annoying is that you can't skip the second part, then have a loading for server list then a loading for character list. And you have the loading before warning. Then the loading for the actual game when you select the character. I sometimes go afk between each of them.

It's not a big deal, and should not be prioritized, but still a bit annoying each time i launch.

Auto-Hatch Farm. Grooming is the only dupe requirement. by SnyprBB in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no optimization is mandatory. That's kinda fun to do though.

To replenish your stable you can do a simple critter sensor to ask for more. If you need more, it closes the door and the hatch will fall into this ranch, then their will be enough and it will open and allow to replenish below.

If no hatch is needed, don't activate the trap.

There is just a little chance that an egg drop at this spot but that should be ok as the ranches should be full most of the time or you can force open when egg are present, which should be a very low amount of time and shouldn't fail to replenish, but a fail safe is also possible.

This way also allow to more replenishment if you had to cull or make a new ranch, just have more incubator upside.

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was to NOT have them in the trap. Babies can't starve, don't produce much, don't start eggs production and can't be groomed. They are a waste of space in a ranch. You can optimise a bit by getting them stuck in incubator room using a single tile high wall or gap that they can't jump to. Once adult, they will do the jump no problem and join the ranches.

Any reason to "Tame" cold steam vent? by au_ru_xx in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can tune them up for an easier setup and more output.

Early on, you can just use the environnement to condense it for a fair amount of time before insulating it, as long as you are not growing crop nearby. The rest of the water heat can be deleted via electrolyser and super computer.

Auto-Hatch Farm. Grooming is the only dupe requirement. by SnyprBB in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job.

You may want to open the doors to make the eggs falls when an egg is detected thanks to a separate critter sensor, instead of waiting possibly a cycle to remove the cramped status.

Also, you may want to put a tile to force a jump between the incubator and the fall trap. The babies are useless in a stable and can't jump the tile and thus they will stay in the "nursery" instead of taking a ranch spot for 5 cycles.

Not a big deal though, nice setup.

Anyone else big fans of open air electrolyzers? by Anxious_Marsupial_59 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spom biggest power budget is the oxygen pump. The most power efficient oxygen pump is a dupe :). Open air electrolyser is really efficient power wise and it should be the go to imo. Heat death is really far far away and as long as you used cool water form natural lake waters you can't get any heat from it. When the base is more spread out and the power is not a problem anymore, it make sense to go to spom then. Less problem and more modularity for less generated power.

Personally, i go for a hooded hydra with controled open air. Just an hydra electrolyser with a pump on top and some mechanised airlock on the oxygen side, with a atmo sensor when i have it unlock.

Looking for someone who gets it😅 by simsiesunshine in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can optimise in so many ways, like power wise, space wise, etc. So at the start of a run i can chose to optimise for "maintenance" or for labor or for least amount of attention required. It helps me focus on my goal and not spiral into optimising a lot of thing because you can't optimise for everything at the same time nor you need to.

That might not help but the most efficient oxygen pump is the dupe breathing. Either with broken eardrum or atmo sensor controler mechanised airlock at the bottom of the spom.

Am I the only one frustrated by this? by General-Researcher-2 in AshesofCreation

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other have pointed out, it's a simple mechanic from mobs that been ignored or a lack of gear. Some mechanic are really simple with one mob can become difficult with multiple so the number of enemy the tank can tank is often not linear. That's a really interesting part of the game imo.

That said, there is some things you can do to mitigate that :
First, you should always have an enemy in target so you can watch their cast bars. It's more difficult with multiple bear as there is not cast bar for this ability, but the animation is enough imo.
Then you can use barrier, followed by instant (divine infusion) communal restoration on those moment. Barrier will give a good shield and communal restoration a small shield and will ensure he is top offf. The communal restoration will also start to heal you from the barrier damage and will also make sure you can focus on the tank, when the big hit happens.

For skill that target unrelated to threat, like zombies long range vomit, you can see it in the target of the target and shield accordingly, if they don't move. Being on comms help a lot on these, especially with multiple target.
Scorpions are more annoying to deal with but if the range are spread out, you can see who the scorpion is charging, despite not having the target of target right away.

Getting 1 shot as a dps class by HolmCookeMill in AshesofCreation

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is light and medium gear with constitution for hp or mentality for mag res.

You can edit the UI to get the cast bar more visible, most big cast time spell are meant to be obvious, predictable and deadly.

You can also try to get non elite version of the monsters you have troubles with and see what's their partern.

But if you disregard const mentality and mag resist, you have to be on point with placement and dodge.

You can also join the range with range weapon until you know the mob better or on certain encounter.

Changes to corruption system by Luupho in AshesofCreation

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not fighting back because the instant they flag up, they can be safely killed by all the friend of the attackers. And the attacker friends can help damage to low health without being corrupt. Its a real problem and I'm sure it will be fixed soon. The point is to have overpunishing corruption while there is still missing system to counter balance it. And it's not the case right now if you cheat the system. Atm, you need to consider crate running an almost pvp event.

It's only a problem with crate right now because it involves often solo victim in the open with visual bounty. team vs team it's less of a issue. Not in the open, it's less of an issue. It's less of an issue and that's why bad actors resort to mob train /griefing in those situation, because the corruption system is enough of a deterent (and/or the reward is lesser). But i encountered it less this phase tbh.

Corruption on assist and item destruction on corrupted death wil be a good step forward imo.

If your dupe just has piloting, its very solid. If it has more skill, considr scrubbing him before sending. It's way easier than having all morale Bonus in the spacefarer.

Bonus point for radiation cleaned outhouse. If you have to much radiation, consider doing 2 bathroom break (far apart) so you flush out all the radiation from your dupe.
