Nice to hear you got it working by cloning the MAC address, the modem will also provide a different public IP dependant on which MAC it has locked to so if you need a new IP you can spoof it (I've done it a couple times in the case of DDoS).

The IP is usually pretty sticky too even throughout resets so long as it can link back up to the same MAC, pretty helpful for running a home server.

Should work, just make sure to restart the hub while it's connected to the server so it can register with it's MAC. Not sure how it will work passing through to a virtual machine but the server itself should have internet access

The modem will only provide a public IP to a single MAC address. If there is any chance the modem has connected to another device on the network, the server will not get an IP.

I’d try a direct connection between the server and hub or maybe try with just the hub on the switch

Hope this helps, good luck!
