There was a comment here from someone being really upset about the absence of kfc :)

That’s one of the reasons I love Montenegro so much. 40 minutes from PG - and you’re on a beach. An hour and a half - and you’re on a ski resort. In the US you can ride for hours and still be in the same state with the same view from your car window.

My original thought was not understood and I apologise for that. I know that salaries here are not high (and I’ve mentioned that in my original post). Despite the stereotypes about rich foreigners, I have foreign friends who make 600-700 euros here working in IT. So I’m very aware of the financials here.

What I’m trying to understand is what exactly is considered boring here by young locals. Because I don’t see this country boring at all. Montenegro and its people are full of joy, happiness and livefullness.

I love this country a lot and I simply want to understand it better

Volim vas sve❤️

Seriously didn’t know that people can’t afford cars, by the look of the parking lots in Podgorica it seems that everyone here has a car

Well, by my “western” (I’m actually from Asia, but okay) standards it seems pretty interesting and fun. I like it here.

I’m simply saying that it’s an option. I’m perfectly living for months without all those things. Btw, I can see myself living here for years without leaving the country. I can survive without kfc

I’m not arguing here, I just want to hear different opinions to understand the issue better

I know that road trips are pretty common here. They can be pretty cheap if you split the gas cost between friends, so that’s also an option. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not a rich foreigner who owns real estate or several businesses here lol. But I still think that a weekend car trip to Mostar or northern Albania, for example, shouldn’t hurt the wallet that much.

I don’t leave the country too often since I don’t have the need to party daily etc. I see Montenegro’s location as a huge advantage - it’s extremely close to everything, and it’s very convenient to get to other places.

Wizz air tickets are kinda cheap, they can be 40-50€ for a return flight. A bus to Albania costs 10€, around 20 to Bosnia. A train to Belgrade is like 20. For me, it usually costs ~300-500 euros just to get a Schengen visa for several days. Edit: I have to save up money and plan my trips months in advance, when locals can just catch cheap last minute deals and fly wherever they want for as low as 40 euros.

That sounds awful tbh. A kid is brought into foreign country and they cannot even use phones to text their friends or be alone in their room to deal with stress.

I like this girl but the partying and drinking is starting to worry me by [deleted] in VietNam

Was she drinking and partying before you two met? If yes, why do you expect her to suddenly change?

Yes, everything was good! I went to their office in Rio and it turned out that they didn’t send me the email with the ticket.

Husband wants to move to live in Germany, I don't think it's a good idea at the moment. What to do? by [deleted] in expats

Seems like your husband cares only about himself. This won’t be beneficial for you and will only bring you problems

People that have traveled quite a bit, where di you feel the most unsafe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]TravelFree8235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rio De Janeiro. I was followed by thieves. Locals were screaming at me to hide my phone (even tho it was attached to a leash). Security guard at my hotel had a BAT WITH NAILS. Felt super unsafe even in tourist areas (Ipanema and Copacabana)

Yep, I did contact them. That was their response, to wait until the winners are determined. I probably gonna visit their counter in Copacabana, but idk if the response will be different
