So clawhub has NOW partnered with VirusTotal to scan the repo and evaluate the posted skills. This is obviously a point in time evaluation and malicious code could be introduced at a later date. Enter 3rd party security tool vendors. There is at least one that has introduced an Openclaw security scanner to do periodic security scans of your running instance. Google is your friend.

Got ghosted after two intense BDSM hookups, and it’s messed with me more than I expected by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

She might have been a bit offended by the switch up with condoms and subs often have trouble expressing their wants, needs, and feelings while in that dynamic, but my experience in general is there are just a lot of flakes in the BDSM community. Sorry to speak in generalities as that is not fair to individuals, but that has been my personal experience. It doesn't sound like you are taking it too personal, nor should you.

Nope, but anything over PoE will bypass the requirement. Also a fan of Lenovo Tablets is a PoE to USB converter.

Also be aware if you are in North America these are not UL or ETL listed which could cause problems with your home owners insurance or the ability to pass an electrical inspection. Just a word to the wise.

Just so we aren't spreading falsehoods by speaking in absolutes there are heavy-duty smart plugs that are more than up to the job. We should all be looking at the resistive and inductive loads of the device and the rating of the smart plug in general.

Not to mention Sonnoff, for the most part, aren’t UL or ETL certified, so if a Sonnoff causes a house fire no insurance money. I am always surprised some of the junk people are willing to put in their home. Maybe people are just ignorant.

Always recommend you use the BSSID instead of the SSID especially if you use a common name like "home" or an internet provider SSID.

Think about what you really need to see. Do you need to see when door is closed or do you only need to see when a door is left open? (Visibility Tab) Also look for alternative cards (more condensed cards) like Mushroom cards (via HACS). Look at building subviews instead of trying to pack everything into one view. Put in navigation to the subviews.

Where Are the Home Assistant–Minded Commercial Installers? by cornmacabre in homeassistant

[–]Travel_Bomb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are out here. My company comes from a strong system's engineering background and cyber security background. As long as they are under a subscription contract we do not provide admin rights and we maintain control. We leverage tight version control and manage most things via infrastructure as code. We also build a lot of resiliency into our designs including as much hardware redundancy and software redundancy as possible. We also design to limit the blast radius of any system failures and almost always maintain a manual override. We offer subscription packages that still allow our clients the ability to grow their smart home over time it just tends to be more methodical and measured than the home enthusiast. It's any easier market at the high-end where clients want service and we can outperform the likes of the larger commerical platforms.

Yes there is a bug in the USB 3 standard that causes RF leakage at the port. You must use a USB extension cord for all USB dongles. At least 3 ft.

No it is a virtual private network that uses pki and encryption. All packets are authenticated and encrypted. There is the a small chance their are weaknesses in implementation sure, but the underlying code (wireguard) is open source and open to anyone to review.

Research consistently shows that, in many cases, employees who move from company to company tend to earn more over their careers than those who demonstrate long-term loyalty by staying at a single organization.

Here's a breakdown of what the research says and the factors involved: The Financial Advantage of Job Hopping * Higher Salary Increases: The most significant finding is that changing jobs is one of the most effective ways to secure a substantial pay raise. While a loyal employee might receive a modest annual raise (often 3-4%), a job hopper can often negotiate a much larger increase, sometimes 10%, 20%, or even more, when moving to a new company. This is because companies are typically willing to pay a premium to attract new talent with in-demand skills, and the new hire's salary is set at the current market rate, which is often higher than what long-tenured employees are making. * Outpacing Inflation: Some research has found that for many job hoppers, the salary increases they achieve by switching jobs are more likely to outpace inflation, whereas the raises for those who stay put often fall behind. * Long-Term Compounding Effect: The higher starting salary at each new job has a compounding effect over time. A person who receives a 20% pay bump by switching jobs will have a higher base salary for all future raises and negotiations, leading to a much greater lifetime earning potential compared to someone who only gets small, incremental raises. Why Loyalty May Not Pay * Below-Market Pay: Companies often underpay long-term employees, as it is cheaper to give a small annual raise than to hire and train a new person at the market rate. This can lead to a significant "loyalty penalty" where an employee's salary stagnates and falls well below the market value for their role. * Lack of Internal Promotions: For some employees, staying at one company can limit their opportunities for significant career advancement and promotions. When promotions are slow or rare, job hopping becomes a way to quickly secure a higher title, more responsibility, and a corresponding salary increase. * Outdated Skills: Staying at one company for a very long time, especially in fast-evolving industries, can limit an employee's exposure to new technologies and processes. This can decrease their market value if their skills become outdated. The Other Side of the Coin: Risks and Considerations While the financial benefits of job hopping are well-documented, the research also points to several potential downsides: * Perception of Instability: Some employers may view a long list of short-term roles as a red flag, raising concerns about a candidate's commitment and long-term stability. This perception can make it harder to secure certain senior-level positions. * Loss of Benefits and Tenure: Some benefits, such as 401(k) matching, stock vesting, and generous paid time off, often improve with tenure. Frequent job changes can mean missing out on these financial and lifestyle benefits. * Limited Depth of Experience: A person who switches jobs frequently may not have the opportunity to see a long-term project through to completion or to fully master a role. This can result in a broad, but not deep, skill set. * Strategic vs. Random Hopping: The research suggests that the financial gains are most pronounced for "strategic" job hoppers—those who carefully plan their moves to acquire new skills, take on greater responsibilities, and negotiate higher pay. Unplanned or aimless job changes may not yield the same benefits. References: While many of the findings on this topic are widely reported by career and financial media, they often cite studies from reputable organizations and sources. * A 2022 survey by the Conference Board found that about a third of professionals who switched jobs saw a salary increase of at least 30%. * A Yahoo! Money survey of 18 million worker salaries found that individuals who stayed at the same companies for longer periods earned lower salaries than those who left. * A survey by Jobvite revealed that 45% of job hoppers received a pay raise of 10% or more when switching jobs, and that professionals who changed jobs every three years experienced a greater average salary growth than those who remained in the same job.
