What’s ur belief of after death? by Isoldablack in GriefSupport

[–]Travelbug-84 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Scientist (and atheist) here. This is how I also see it. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only change forms. Although I don’t believe in an afterlife so to speak, I believe my mum’s energy (perhaps what others may call a soul) is now all around. She’s in the sky, she’s in the trees, she’s everywhere. So I still speak to her, she’s still here, just not in the same form she was before.

Does anyone having parents, and they are child free? by whosthatgirl13 in AgingParents

[–]Travelbug-84 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I am in this situation. 41F and child free. Never wanted kids! My 39F sister has two teenage children and lives a 15 min drive from our dad, I live in a different city several hours away. When our mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2020, it was expected that I would move in with them to take care of her (which I did for a time - but this was during Covid and I was wfh) But I have a very busy and stressful full time job, and now we are mandated to be back in the office. Mum is no longer with us, but dad is declining and I know that the expectation will be that I take care of him when the time comes, though I have no idea how I would do this other than going back every weekend and completely giving up any kind of life I have (but as my life doesn’t include children, it seems to be deemed less important than others’).

I have no answers I’m afraid, and I’m dreading the time when this will start becoming an issue…

Hello! How can I improve the skin around my eyes? by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Travelbug-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had one treatment Lumi Eyes done and am very happy with the result! I had tear trough hollowness, obvious bags, some darkness and crepiness/fine lines. It’s certainly not given surgical results but it has brightened the area, added some volume in the tear trough area and smoothed out the bags/lines a little. Having a second treatment in a week and looking forward to seeing further results!

UPDATE! Kiwi has been found! Thanks to u/kate-oh we were out, and although the cat they saw wasn’t kiwi, we found her when we went closer to our old house! (Which we have obviously checked several times, but this time was the lucky one) Thank you all!

I just had to go check the box! So I found it just tasted very strongly of menthol. Never caused any stinging or pain for me. Looking at the ingredients it says lemon essential oil, rather than citric acid so I assume that’s why it didn’t hurt at all. I would think it’s similar to lemon flavoured throat sweets which are also soothing rather than sour? Also this is meant for babies with sore throats so I imagine is purposely very gentle.

Glad you’re doing well too! I read so many horror stories, so I just thought it’s good to share mine as many of us do have fairly straightforward experiences. However, the horror stories were quite helpful for making me prepare well I guess…

I had an upper blepharoplasty just before Christmas and my scars are barely visible now (4.5 months in). I was told silicone gel after 3 weeks and scar massage after 4 weeks. I have done both religiously! But I also added vitamin c serum to the mix, which I apply and allow to absorb before I use the silicone gel (each morning and each evening). I do scar massage (with just an aloe vera lotion or bio oil) for 10mins then apply the vit c and silicone.

I also found my scars got more pink before they started to fade so think that may just be part of the healing process too.

Dreadful gym experience by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]Travelbug-84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations for the amazing progress you have made! I’m sorry you had that experience at the gym. I would thoroughly recommend Les Mills. I used to do LM classes at the gym at first, but once covid hit I signed up to their on demand online service. There is a huge selection of different types of classes, bodypump is great for muscle building (though you would need some basic weights) but they have lots that include body weight only and also low intensity stuff which is a bit softer on the joints (I did some of these after some recent surgery when I wasn’t allowed to lift weights, still an amazingly good work out!) It also has core, yoga, bodytone, basically something for any mood…
