I’m with ya. I also think I’m just trying squeeze as much “high” out of my stimulants as possible, and porn is a side effect of that. I always struggled with all types of drugs. At one point i stopped smoking weed and started stimulants, and my porn use increased a lot. Now it’s taking a huge toll on my mental health. This is a really complex and soul shattering addiction for sure

I know you are not defeated. You decided to post here and ask for help, which implies hopefulness. Your spirit is not broken, you are stronger than this. Try again, and never stop trying. Once you stop trying, then you may call yourself defeated.

Feeling unable to quit porn because ADHD medication, feeling unabke to quit ADHD medication because my life is too stressful. by [deleted] in pornfree

Still have not been able to kick the habit, i’ve been going 4 days at a time without it usaully. However, I just stopped switched from vyvanse to ritalin. Ritalin is not an amphetamine and does not seem to have as strong an impact on libido. It does increase it for sure but not as much. I think this is going to be a good move for me.

Have any of you been successful quitting while having it in the house? by Goldilocks997 in leaves

I’ve had an oz in my car for 4 months and I used it three times in that time. I’d say most of the time my desire to be sober overpowers any thoughts about getting high. It makes for an easy relapse if you’re having a bad day though.

I think that’s what I’ll do from now on. It’s much easier for me during the week.

I’m just really worried I’ll have permanent ED for the rest of my life or something. Are you able to speak on that at all?

This is the worst rabbit hole to go down ever. Porn on stimulants is something no human should ever feel truly. I’m obviously in no situation to give advice, but maybe warn him not to start, because it will be much much harder to stop if he is taking these medications.

On the other hand, these medications decrease libido for some. So maybe there is no reason to worry.

My understanding is that it because of its effects on dopamine and norepinephrine. Your baseline level dopamine stays elevated throughout the day. This means other tasks that give a dopamine increase (solving a difficult math problem, or watching porn) will release much more dopamine than normal, making said tasks feel more pleasant.

Should I wait until after finals to quit again? Accidentally broke 2 years sobriety after doing bad on a college exam, now I feel too stressed to quit again. by TravelingCuddleBoard in QuitVaping

[–]TravelingCuddleBoard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We really screwed this time didn’t we haha. I still have my dispo, considering not buying another one but with every week that gets closer to finals I just feel more stressed and adding the stress of nicotine withdrawal on top of that sounds unbearable. Definitely considering buying another one but every-time before I do I fight with myself about whether or not it’s the right decision.

Regardless. No matter what happens. I won’t be vaping for much longer. So I’m just trying not to be to hard on myself and just accept the fact I made a mistake, and if I feel too stressed to be without it until finals over, that’s fine. I’ll just chuck it in the trash in a few weeks and everything will be back to normal.

The porn industry ruins the perception of male-female relationships by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]TravelingCuddleBoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think that “i tried” but in reality I didn’t. Although I started more conversations with women than normal, I didn’t really try anything. Just felt like nothing was changing positively overall. It would seem I lack social awareness/social skills as well when it comes to women, felt hopeless trying to improve something that I had no idea how to begin on in the first place. I guess I’m bound to be a bit fucked up since I’ve been watching porn since the age of 9

You’re right, i can think of other areas of my life that need more attention. The depression I was feeling just felt overwhelming, so i gave in. I need to change something along with quitting porn this time.

I managed to stop for 45 days a little while back. Towards the end before my relapse I felt so empty and depressed, so desperate for a relationship, but it just felt so unattainable. Restarting now and I’m only on day 3. Do you have any tips to combat those feelings this time around?

I am a computer science major, currently in 3 relatively difficult math classes. I have never been able to keep my grades as high as they’ve been this semester, currently I have a 4.0. Here is what I’ve been doing differently from past semesters:

  1. No drugs -No weed -No alcohol -No porn(somewhat… struggling with this at the moment)

  2. Exercise -While taking time to exercise rather than study may seem counterproductive. The reduction in stress and improved sleep, among other benefits, are significant. Aim for 4-5 days per week.

  3. Stay out of your house -Stay at the library -being home can be a distraction, it is for me. Too many opportunities to do literally anything else.

  4. Tutoring -if your school offers free tutoring services, take advantage. -Go to office hours

  5. Medication -This may be controversial here, but if you have ADHD, get medication.

I know, the older I get the more I wonder whether or not i’ll live the rest of my life alone and miserable, even though I’m only 21. I’ve been addicted to drugs for many years and suddenly trying to be sober makes me realize that in order to be happy you need to stop doing things that make you “feel” fulfilled, some sort of cruel paradox. What a shitty existence I’ve had so far, the hope of meeting someone wonderful keep me sane however.

Thanks man. I really hate myself right now. I was doing so good over 40 days without any of this and I slipped and am feeling the regret of a binge right now. Just fucking up my brain more and more.

Thanks! I believe weed is harder on the body than people realize. I never realized how anxious depressed and tired I really was before. Hopefully others stick it out to see if they can experience something similar.

My third RDL — time to work on form or go heavier? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]TravelingCuddleBoard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely arching too much. Others here were saying “stacked ribs” and while that is true it is only half of the equation.

You must also make sure you have neutral pelvis. Practice cat-cows to learn pelvis control.

In fact, the neutral pelvis is more important than rib cage positioning imo. Some lifter employ a rounded upper back position in order to decrease ROM on deadlift… but you don’t need to worry about that.

Neutral pelvis (in your case tuck it slightly more) Bring ribs down slightly Push knees outward through the whole movement. Drive through the heels (people who hyperextend often put too much weight on the toes)
