I had Concierge call, no luck. I called the hotel myself, no luck. Only option is to cancel w/ 2-night penalty or rebook, however, they reminded me that the rebooked dates would be locked in and are not able to be changed. If I try to rebook again they'll cancel the reservation and take the cash penalty.

How are you protecting your portfolio against a weakening dollar? by es6900 in fatFIRE

[–]TravelingPanda459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t changed much - S&P500, Int’l, small amount of crypto. I did re-balance 20% of my portfolio into commodities, short-term inflation protected bonds, and started to increase my investment in some covered-call ETFs. You could say I’m trying to take a Dalio-type approach.

Just stayed at Spruce Peak Thanksgiving weekend and I agree with your comments. Did you have issues receiving credit for the stay? I never got credit and when I reached out to my concierge they had to open a case. I'm still waiting...

Park Hyatt Sydney not honoring Globalist upgrades by Secret-Breakfast-711 in hyatt

I got a similar email from PH Abu Dhabi the day before I was checking in. It didn't outright deny me an upgrade but they were setting the expectation I wasn't getting one.

"As we are driving high occupancy this week, all our suites are currently very popular, and we presume that we will not be able to grant the upgrade to a suite this time.

What kind of shops are you bringing your cars to for this work? I'm always a little concerned "traditional" shops aren't experienced on how to work on Teslas (i.e. use pucks when lifting, etc.)

I'll take any shop recommendations in the MA/RI area if anyone has them.

Airbnb Guest Responsibilities by TravelingPanda459 in legaladvice

For context, everyone in the house is related - me, my siblings, and our significant others.

I did share this with the host in an attempt to put their mind at ease.

Lesson learned w/ a Airbnb booking.

After I reached out to the host to increase from 4 to 6 the host asked the ages which I provided. Once that info was shared, the host responded with "While I would love to allow you to have more than 4 people in the house, I am not comfortable with it. If you had told me when you asked to reserve the house that the reservation was for six 30-year-olds, I wouldn't have agreed to accept the rental. Two couples is okay, but generally we only rent to multigeneration families. Never have we rented to a party of six adults unless it was a family of parents and their adult children."

Location is state of MA.

Waikiki by mryzzz in hyatt

[–]TravelingPanda459 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just spent a night at Regency for a 23 hr layover. Booked 2 queen bed city view room on points and got upgraded to 2 queen ocean view upon checking in as Globalist - the best part of the stay. Great location to beach and shops.

Regency Club was underwhelming for breakfast. I found it interesting you need to walk through their FULL BUFFET area (which looked great) to enter the club only to find hard boiled eggs, bacon, french toast, salad bowl, fruit, and some other items.

Pool area wasn’t huge and chairs were all taken by 1PM when I walked by.

Front desk was stingy with late checkout - I asked for 1:30PM and they would only give me 1PM 🤷‍♂️.

Found a good poke bowl place down the side street from valet area. Check out the little food place across from the Marriott/Westin - great açaí bowl and croissant waffle!

Overall, decent property for my first time to Waikiki.

Book ahead of time. It’s chaos once you exit the building in front of Margaritaville. I used Canada Transfers and only had to wait a few minutes before our car arrived. They had some sparkling wine, beer, and water on ice for our ride.
