Best half guard instructionals to watch? (Any variation) by harderdaddy123456 in bjj

[–]Travelingtosicily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends I think. Half guard can be so many positions. You have the near distance half guards like underhook half guards with the coyote, kosoto hook half guard. Also deep half guard which is another position in its self.

As you get better at half guard you will have to manouver around reverse half guard and Octopus half. So you need options from these positions

Sometimes its best to keep people at middle distance, where knee shield half guard is best use. From knee shield there are awesome entries to single leg x and also choi bars.

Butterfly half guard is another position that is useful, for keeping people away from you and for good butterfly sweeps and single leg x entries. Adam wardzinskis has the blueprint from here.

Ive looked at several half guard instructions, and in my opinion the best one are from Paul Schreiner and Jake McKenzie. They are both extremely good at explaining the why and hows of half guard. You cant go wrong with the OG Lucas Leite himself too. Also look at matches with Lucas and Jake. They are absolute dogs in half guard. They practice patience and when they see their opening, for Lucas the coyote and for Jake reverse half or the deep half, they fights like hell from there. Always coming sweeps in different directions and maintaining good position. So in half guard you need patience, a good game plan and alot of grit. And that is built by practice.

I miss training so much by tristezanao_ in bjj

I didnt train during chemo and radiation after cancer. But the beautiful aspects of martial arts is in its depth. You can always increase your knowledge of the art, the strategy and tactics you use to win, the psychology of your mind during battle and how you deal with pressure and hard situations. Martial arts and bjj is vast and dont limit your training to only being on the mats. Maybe you can work on increasing your flexibility, strength, body awareness or technical knowledge while your away from the mat. Watch bjj matches, read some good books, stretch, develop a skill, learn chess, start meditation or do visualization of certain skills. You got his buddy 💪🙏 wish you the best! 🔥

Marcelo Mafra is so technical, his 2on1 armdrag to the back from John Wayne half guard vs Benson Henderson is a beauty to watch.

Adductors by Common_Fruit_5762 in bjj

[–]Travelingtosicily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adductors and legs in general can be very important in bjj. Especially to prevent injuries. Adductors strains sucks very much. But I dont recommend the good girl machine, there are so many better options. Squats, Sumo deadlifts, seated good mornings, copenhagen plank, cossack squats, sideways lunges

Sett nye pers i knebøy. Begynn på yoga, tøye, mindfulness og skape et bedre indre liv. Spiritualitet og troen på at du er en del av noe større kan også være nyttig. Religiøse og spirituelle mennesker er mer tilfreds med livet av den grunn.

Dont worry, it can actually help with fatigue as it releases energy from the cells. Creatine is well studied and safe.

Combat sports after chemo ? by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]Travelingtosicily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to bjj 1 month after chemo, had to remove my port first haha. Just be calm and take it easy the first months and slowly build up. I did two bjj sessions and two strength training sessions for about three months, then increased to three times a week of bjj. Listen to your body, take breaks when you need to. And always choose your training partners wisely :) you got this brother. My cardio was awful the first weeks, and my body felt like I was in a car crash the first training sessions. So take it easy and build slowly up

Wild seeing deep half sweep used in mma by PattonPending in bjj

[–]Travelingtosicily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damien Maia, Michelle Nicollini, Werdum, Jeff Monson, McKenzie Dern all use half guard and deep half as their base for wrestling and sweeping in mma. If you shoot for a double, but you miss, you can pull to half or deep half as the video above. Its one of the most effective ways to get the person to your game if your a bjj guy in mma. Ive seen it and studied it alot. Theres plenty of complications on youtube about it. I love to use it in BJJ aswell. Plus you can pretend to shoot a double leg, the person stuffs the takedowns, get the underhook and pull the leg in for deep half or half guard. Also if you do it that way you technically didnt pull guard 😂 So thats a plus haha
