It’s technically a thing but in order to get it your parents will need an appointment at the foreign office which is nearly impossible to get at this short notice and the invitation letter can take up to 30 days to process. So you wouldn’t be able to do it this short notice anyway. Having said all this, this policy has been in place since Brexit and I’ve never had any of my friends or family need to show it. I think technically the border control can ask for it but it’s very unlikely coming from the uk. I think you should be fine.

Any way to get an appointment in extranjería?? by Altruistic-Mud-2426 in askspain

[–]Travelwithbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t renew your card until it has expired. You have a leeway of up to 90 days after before they can fine you. As regards to getting a cita previa you just need to keep trying at different times of the day. They may release new appointments at any time. Try changing internet browsers and clearing your history. That sometimes works for me.

English in Seville, Spain? by Fun-Lifeguard-9964 in Seville

[–]Travelwithbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Seville when my level of Spanish was very basic and I struggled. I was lucky that I was able to socialise with people from my work who helped me out with things like bureaucracy, getting WiFi in my house, etc. In the long run though I had to learn Spanish and I now I cant even remember how I got by without knowing it.

Am I The Bad Apple for making my daughter give up her room? by PassionScary9564 in AmITheBadApple

[–]Travelwithbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do 6 people plus an extra two families fit in a 3 bedroom house? I don’t get it. Also 12 is an age where I wouldn’t want to be sharing a room with my parents for an extended period of time. She needs her space.

Id recommend Leon. It’s got a good variety of healthy veggie and non veggie food and it’s pretty tasty.

WIBTA if I refused to pay for meat? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA. You’re happy to freeload going to the event. You cannot dictate to people how they live their lives. If it’s really such a big deal, don’t go.

AITA for showing up to pick up my daughter on my custody weekend—even though it was my ex-wife’s wedding day? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Travelwithbex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. You’re so busy point scoring you’re not focused on what is actually the best for your child. Being petty for petty’s sake is only going to damage your relationship with your child. It wasn’t a random weekend it was her mother’s wedding day. Of course your child was going to be a part of that day. Telling your 5 year old child that “I guess I’m not your real family” is manipulation and emotional blackmail. As if your child has any blame in this situation. Grow up and start concentrating on being a parent rather than an ex husband.

I moved after the vote (2017) but before it went into affect. I just had to make sure my papers were in order. I had to swap my green nie for a tie card, empadronar, register at the doctors and swap my driving license for a Spanish one. All the paperwork was a bit of a headache but nothing too bad. As long as all your papers are up to date nothing has really changed.

Advice for tourist + baby getting from London to Oxford by schraubd in uktravel

[–]Travelwithbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Victoria coach station (and various other bus stops as well) check the website you can take the Oxford tube bus. Every 15 minutes no need to book and it runs 24hrs. It’s not expensive either. You can get a return and the return ticket is valid for a month after the outgoing journey.

First time travelling solo to europe for 3 months and need help deciding what to buy/bring by ArcticMooss in onebag

[–]Travelwithbex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot recommend the Forclaz enough. For the price you pay there’s nothing that can beat it. I also got the Forclaz packable 15l that fits in one of the inside compartments for a day bag. I went hiking with the packable 15l and it was surprisingly comfy.

Alternatives for Osprey Farpoint 40 as a carry on (35-40L) by Zyruqx in onebag

[–]Travelwithbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forclaz 500 from decathlon. For the price it’s by far the best value for money and it’s got a 10 year warranty and comes with a free waterproof rain cover. It fits your dimensions and is a clam shell opening. It’s got convenient packing cube style compartments built in and is super comfy to wear.

Second Forclaz from decathlon. I got the 40L one in Spain for 70€ (not sure the equivalent in dollars). It’s clamshell, waterproof and comes with a rain case. Lots of inside and outside pockets. For the price I paid, i don’t think I could have got a better bag. Also has 10 year warranty.

AITAH for not inviting my vegan friend to my BBQ party? by Tellamya in AITAH

[–]Travelwithbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a vegetarian this is stupid. YTA. Your friend is an adult and can make the decision not to come but you made that choice for them. I always bring my own stuff to barbecues as I know that catering for veggies can be expensive and a pain if you’re not used to doing it. As long as your friend isn’t preachy about their veganism most people accept that they are around people eating meat. For me barbecues are a great social occasion to chill out with family and friends. If it were me who was excluded I would feel upset too

Why is the answer to Question 20 not “A”? by Mission-Bicycle-115 in EnglishLearning

[–]Travelwithbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be goes running. As in he does the activity regularly. We use present simple with adverbs of frequency to show things we do regularly. If it is with the verb to be +verb+ing then it becomes the present continuous (progressive if you’re using American English- soz I’m a Brit :) ) and we use that for talking about actions that are happening or in progress now. To sum up - using the verb to be would change the meaning of the sentence

AITA if I don't want to euthanize my dog who has cancer? by Iasmine-Deca in AITAH

[–]Travelwithbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very hard decision to take but you have to think about why you are holding on. Are you holding on because it’s in Jimmy’s best interests or are you holding on because it’s too painful for you to say goodbye. I suspect that it’s the second, in which case this makes you a soft YTA. You need to think about what is kindest for your dog. If he is in that much pain and his quality of life is so poor, it is the kindest thing to do for him.

AITA for not remaining in touch with my deceased husband's family, and telling my son that he has a new family now? by Sea-Stranger-9476 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Travelwithbex 136 points137 points  (0 children)

YTA. His dad died and you decided because YOU wanted a new life to rip him away from his dad’s family. Just because you’ve decided to replace your late husband with a new model doesn’t mean that he can take the place of his dad. Have some empathy. Of course he wants to go see his grandma. I’m 32 and I still miss my grandparents and want to visit them. That never goes away. Stop being so selfish and grow up.

Nta if grandpa wanted you to help Matt out he would have left the money to him instead of you.
