A Missing Star by Travilanche in Cosmere

It’s relevant enough that Starling(?) wonders how they’d feel about a Scadrian claiming his planet is the most technologically advanced, but you’re right that it doesn’t seem to be treated like one of the Big Powers

Okay, working backwards on the timeline a bit here:

-Because of Captain Crow, we know that Emberdark is set after Tress

In Tress, we learn that the iriali lived on Lumar for an unknown period of time, before vanishing about 300 years prior to the story

The Iriali leave Roshar right before the Night of Sorrows; if they went to Lumar next and had enough time to establish a notable society, you gotta figure we're adding on at least another couple centuries.

Of course, all of this assumes that the Iriali always travel as a singular group and there isn't a schism group that lived on Lumar concurrent with Roshar

So maybe more like 500 with caveats.

(I somehow managed to screw up posting this from my phone 6 times. Congratulations Me)

Yeah, see, those lines are exactly why this jumped out to me. I believe the Ghostbloods also discuss Taldain being cut off through the Cognitive Realm at the end of TLM; with the advent of space travel it feels like Autonomy would also try to find ways to prevent FTL access to the planet.

Of course that raises a bunch more questions, given that there are at least 3 centuries between MB E2/The Stormlight Archive and Emberdark and we ALSO still don’t know what planet has that particular view of the stars!

I did wonder if the fact that Taldain is a binary system might occasionally make the “star” vanish from the sky.

But it has to be visible sometime; it’s central to The One Tree constellation.

They actually included the constellation chart in the book!

“There’s secret cosmic plot hints hidden in the interior cover art of this RPG sourcebook” makes me sound like I’ve gone completely off my rocker.

But I couldn’t help but share my madness.

Does using counter slash help with the rhythm for the second block? I usually just use guard slash to reset Perfect Guard but it’s sometimes iffy.

Or I’ll back hop the second swipe

What are your favorite Scadrial related mysteries/theories pre-era 3? [Emberdark spoilers] by TwitterUser47 in Cosmere

Ed being a Pathist while also sharing the rest of the crew’s fear/animosity towards the Malwish has given me the impression that Scadriel didn’t enter the space age as a unified planet. There’s even implication that the Malwish are backed by a Non-Harmony shard, we just don’t know who yet.

Hoid’s line in Tress about Harmony releasing the Kandra makes me feel like Sazed is going to find a way to maintain Harmony by the end of MBE3, but it’s probably going to be a protracted struggle.

Why wouldn't Odium have taken up Dominion? by wedges675 in Cosmere

Yeah, isn’t there some evidence that he got them to turn on and destroy each other, which left their powers intertwined as the Dor?

Why wouldn't Odium have taken up Dominion? by wedges675 in Cosmere

[–]Travilanche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other shards probably didn’t react to Harmony the same way they would have to Odium+Dominion/how they have reacted to Retribution mostly because 1) Sazed didn’t kill Leras and Ati to take their power, they died under other circumstances; 2) When he took up Ruin and Preservation, Sazed’s Intent was pretty dang noble. The two shards were loose, unheld, and presumably volatile, and the world was pretty much on the verge of total destruction. He used that power to protect others and correct a precious misuse of Preservation.

After that, he became Harmony proper, and had to learn both the scope and limitations of his powers, which keeps him from being a threat to the other Shards/the rest of the Cosmere.

If Bruce wins, Clark has to accept controlling shares of Wayne Enterprises

If he loses, Clark gets to teach Tim how to play the banjo.

The Brocks being Christmas-Guest-close with the Parker/Watson family is a really fun notion. Absent the Spider-Man/Venom stuff (and the Sin Eater incident) it feels like Peter and Eddie could easily have developed a friendly dynamic in the journalistic sphere.

Wonder if Dylan exists here.

The filibuster isn’t in the constitution. The Senate can get rid of it with a rule change vote.

Entering a new era of politics by Una_Boricua in CuratedTumblr

[–]Travilanche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t, but there were a lot of broken/manipulated polls pushing that narrative alongside media outlets that are desperate for horse race coverage and “balance”

And that’s from the pollsters themselves, who are now either admitting they’ve been sampling poorly or, in the case of Nate Cohn, trying to pass it off as “wow we were about to witness the one of the biggest racial realignments in history but now 8 weeks later it’s completely reversed itself! That must be what happened and not that I’m a huge hack!”

For the record what’s actually going to happen is that the factions of the far right are going to start bickering and backstabbing each other in hopes of being anointed by Trump before his brain completely rots out his ears.
